Compensators
« on: February 23, 2018, 10:19:02 PM »
Hello,I have a p09 threaded with standard sights, was thinking of getting a compensator instead of suppressor height sights. I guess this is hopeing for a place for people to post their compensator experiences, pictures, thoughts and more.
I only plan on shooting cheap factory loads, maybe reload in future if I try to compete, but that gets complicated when thinking major, minor loads, bullet selection, etc.

I may be wrong on this, but,

If you only plan to shoot cheap factory loads the a compensator isn't going to do much of anything, it may cycle and feed but you won't be getting the actual benefit of a compensator unless you are shooting hotter ammo....

(I say this as someone who 100% supports compensators on 9mm carry guns)

100% correct. The more energy in a load, the more effect you see from a compensator.

I have the Primary Machine comp on my carry and training guns and love it.

That's what I thought.

Ie, using cheap ammo isn't going to be detrimental with the correct comp and tuning (day using that sick PM stealth comp vs one one a czechzmate) but it also will not do anything to improve the shooting

I really liked the effect the comp had on shooting my self defense ammo. Flatter shooting than my range ammo without the comp ;-)

I can notice it slightly on practice ammo, but this thing shines with +p and +p+.  I messaged s0nspark when I got my comp to find out what recoil spring he was using so I could change mine. Well maybe I have to many projects going at the same time or I?m flirting with old timers or CTE from boxing and football, but realized the other day that the CGW rod and spring are still in my cabinet[emoji42]. So long story short a P07 with the excellently designed primary machine comp will run flawlessly and cycle whatever range garbage you run through it without a spring change.

Thank you all, kind if what I thought, my p07 is my carry, but I put the suppressor on it at the range sometimes, my p09 has threaded barrel, but low sights so j can't see them with suppressor mounted.  Figured a comp to play with if it did anything, but I'll just invest in a plate for rds, or taller sights. Sending a slide may be in the works but I'm not yet sold on red dots yet.
