Looking for a .223/5.56 with irons and scope
« on: February 26, 2018, 03:47:37 PM »
Hello - new to the forum, and looking for a very specific configuration, and advise on it.

For reasons we are all too familiar with, I'm looking for a .223/5.56 platform as a backstop to my AR. I have looked at the Browning BLR, the Tikka T3X and the CZ527. While each has their positives, the CZ is the only one rated for 5.56, and since I have a supply of both 2.23 and 5.56, this is a consideration.

Among the 527 variations, I am looking for a rifle length barrel, and the ability to utilize a scope and still have iron sight backup. While the carbine is factory set up for both optics, it has a shorter barrel than I want. Are any of the other models in this line conducive to setting up in this manner?

Thanks.

Look at a Lux. The only thing you might not like is the Euro style hogback stock. They're built for the iron sights.
I had the right to remain silent...

but not the ability.

If at first you don't succeed, get a bigger hammer.

Def the lux.  The hogsback stock isn't too bad for a low mounted hunting type scope.  It may not work as well with a tall tactical type scope unless you do a cheek riser or something.
