CZ SP-01 Tactical SAO?
« on: March 06, 2018, 10:22:45 AM »
New to the forum and fairly new to the CZ family so please forgive my ignorance. I tried searching old posts for an answer but was not able to find one.

I have had a CZ SP-01 Tactical for about 2 years and had the opportunity to pickup another at what I felt was a pretty good price. Gentleman selling it said that is was 100% factory but it appears to be SAO? Does the SP-01 Tactical come in a SAO configuration from the factory?

The tactical version(decocker) can not be made SAO.

It may have a different style trigger in it that makes it look SAO.

Thank you. That is what I thought from what I could find on-line.

The reason I asked though is because I have not been able to take this firearm to the range yet but when dry firing the trigger will not cock the hammer. It will fire from the cocked position but not otherwise. Now my concern is would this indicate something internal broken?

It has thumb safeties?  Or decocking levers?
Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.  So, if you see me walking the dogs with my SIG 556R, its okay.

Yes, something is definitely wrong. Could be as easy as tightening something down or could take a complete disassembly.
More information is needed.

But to start, check to make sure trigger bar spring is properly seated.

Check magazine spring screw is tightened.

Can you decock pistol with lever?

Does it have a stock hammer?

OK. The trigger bar spring looks to be seated correctly, the magazine screw is tight. I can decock the pistol using the lever and the trigger pull will work from there. Everything is supposedly 100% stock but the trigger is different than the one I have on my other SP-01 Tactical.

The issue seems to be on the second trigger pull after firing. The trigger is soft all the way back and never catches the hammer to push it back. It will from the half-cocked position but not from hammer down.

Sounds like someone messed with the disconnector and things aren't catching right.  It's a chore to disassemble a decocker, so you might need to take it to a gunsmith or return it to the seller for your money back.  If that's the case, then pretty unscrupulous of the seller to claim that it's stock.

Then again, it could be the springs under the trigger bar binding up between there trigger bar and frame, causing the bar not to rebound fully up and leaving it in the 'disconnected' mode.

If the double action is at fault, it's most likely a disconnector issue but can still be a sear/hammer problem.

Without having in hand it's difficult to tell.
Can you post a pic of trigger being used? If not, is the trigger straight or curved?

Is the hammer round (stock) ?

With the slide off can you see the disconnector? It should be same color as other parts. If not, it's aftermarket and will need fitting.

   Yep, I agree.
That trigger isn’t stock. That’s an 85c trigger.

85 triggers are nice triggers.  As others have said, back the screw in the trigger out and see if that solves your problem.

You guys rock. I had a hunch that wasn't a stock trigger but didn't trust my gut. That absolutely fixed the issue.
