I?m interested in buying a new CZ 75 and run across a couple new CZ 85 combats.would you guys go ahead and buy the 85 or stick with the 75 ? I heard they discontinued the 85 this year.

I?d already have the 85 and would be posting pictures of it on here by now...

So ya, unless you really want single side controls, a bad trigger, and a firing pin block, get the 85!

I have a Pre B CZ 85.  I like it so well I converted a CZ 75 Compact to look like a CZ 85 (ambidextrous slide release/safety/spur hammer).

I carry the Compact every day.

If I were to run across a CZ 85 at a gun show, I might just have to buy it.

On the other hand, some people see no need for ambidextrous controls and even ask about ways to convert it to left side only controls.  Depends on what you like/want.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I would go with the CZ 85 Combat if you will just use it for the range or in competition because for the lack of the firing pin block.  The only negative thing I heard about the CZ 85 Combat is some experience frame cracking around the right-side slide lock because of the larger hole to accommodate the right slide lock lever.  But I do not know how common this occurs and if CZ ever corrected the problem.

you may as well learn now than later.

when in doubt "buy both"

chances are you will buy the other one later.

LIKE!

I like the ambi guns because I practice both hands and also just in case a lefty friend or family member could use some love.

Not only do you have an ambi safety, it drops the mags free when you hit the release.  The 85 combat is a desirable one to have.

I think I read that the 85 Combat (I have one) has been discontinued  (or, at least, isn't being exported to the U.S.),  so getting an 85 Combat might give you a gun that may be hard to find before too long.  As noted, you get:
  • Adjustable sights
  • Drop-free mags (flat mag brake)
  • Over-travel adjustment on the trigger
  • Extended slide Release
  • No firing pin block (and the related but pain-in-the-butt firing pin retention roll pin)
  • Ambidextrous slide release and safeties (but NOT mag release.)
I didn't care about the ambidextrous controls, but did want some of the other unique features.  Mine has the satin nickel finish and it's a handsome gun.

I like mine because I use the R/H slide release with my index finger to put the slide into battery.
I had the right to remain silent...

but not the ability.
