New P-10 C Owner
« on: March 07, 2018, 09:54:12 PM »
I just picked up my first CZ yesterday, a new P-10 c. I'm drawn to striker fired pistols with really good triggers. I love my PPQ with my only knock on it being the somewhat high bore axis. After reading about the P-10, I was hopeful that it may have an equal trigger with a lower bore axis. So, i decided to give it a go.

First impressions, everything is tight, especially the controls. Mag release is very tight. Slide release is unbelievably stiff. I expected the slide release issue based on research, but it is much worse than I anticipated. The mag release was a surprise. My first pull of the trigger was a letdown. Basically felt like a Glock, especially with the stack and creep after you hit the wall and before it breaks. Far from terrible, but not in the same league with my PPQ's, current M2 or previously owned original/classic. I have dry fired the trigger probably 200 times now and it seems to be improving. Also cycled the mag release and slide release a couple hundred times. Mag release is better, can't tell much change in slide release.

Will all of these improve significantly with use? If so how many cycles or rounds fired can I expect before that happens? Haven't fired it yet, but looking for hope that it will get much better than this.

Hoping to get to the range to shoot it this weekend, so no comments on how it shoots yet.

Thanks in advance for feed back.

I only have 400 rounds through mine, I put on talon grips because of the aggressive grips (not bad dry firing but not for me live firing.) I had a HB industries flat trigger which I really like. If you push up on the bottom of the magazine while pushing release it will work easier. As for the slide stop/release I hope it will get easier over time.

My talons are in the mail. I knew I'd want them before getting pistol, based on all the comments regarding aggressive grip texture. Too much for my keyboard fingers....

How does the HBI trigger compare to factory? From what I read, it just reduces the take up distance. Is that right?

Be careful dry firing the P10c unless you are using a snap cap. The striker is MIM and has been known to knock the tip off from use. I ordered a tool steel striker from CGW for that day it breaks. I also ordered the HBI flat trigger and striker spring kit. I have not put them in as of yet. Since I order the HBI trigger, CGW has also come out with one so there are options.

I am confident that the P10c is everything I expected, I'm just a guy that is never happy leaving anything "box stock". I'm already toying with the idea of ordering a flat faced trigger for my VP9 too.

The slide release and mag release will both loosen up over the first 200 rounds or so.  Mine was stiff when I got it, loosened up to where I don't notice it quickly.

The slide release and mag release will both loosen up over the first 200 rounds or so.  Mine was still when I got it, loosened up to where I don't notice it quickly.

With the factory trigger some shooters were getting a blister on their trigger finger. After the flat trigger I shot 200 rounds with no problem.  The take up seems less and still has short reset. The hb trigger comes with 2 striker springs, I like the factory spring for now.

I too was disappointed a bit with the trigger from the factory.  Some dry firing and shooting makes it much better, but the HBi trigger made it very good.  Shorter reset and take up, and also took out all of the gritty creep.  I am using the 3lb striker spring and have had no issues with it.  The original strikers had some issues, but I'm fairly certain they were mostly in the earlier stages and were casting issues.  Dry firing should be fine, but as always, best if using snap caps.  But like others, I cannot leave things alone and have the CGW striker on the way, LOL.  It is still a better factory trigger than a factory Glock in my opinion and for the price point is an exceptional gun.  Everything gets better in 200 to 400 rounds.  BTW, Cajun Gun Works is a great company and has some outstanding products at fair prices.

My P-10 has the HBI flat trigger, CWG toll steel striker with HBI 3 pound striker spring and Gray Guns Super Black stainless guide rod with 15 pound spring and its the best shooting gun I have ever owned. Both the slide release and magazine release have loosened up nicely after 500 rounds. Great advise about not dry firing without using snap caps. My stock striker tip broke for that reason. No issues with the CGW striker but don't dry fire without snap caps. Lesson learned.

Thanks for the replies. Glad to hear I have something to look forward to.

As for the trigger, the reset is fine. I wouldn't want it much shorter, if any. I guess i expected basically zero creep after it hits the wall, like my PPQ. Changes that would reduce or eliminate the creep might interest me if it doesn't go away. It may have a little grit, but I'm sure that will smooth up, and if it doesn't, it can be smoothed up pretty easy.

Just got to keep shooting it. Everything will loosen up over time. I wasn't one for the plastic trigger and swapped it for the first gen and now second gen of the HBI trigger. They are both great but I prefer the completely flat variant. Like all CZs, It only gets better!
