for anyone using the folding SB brace.

Mine came in this week and i now have it and am looking at it and working towards finding the right parts to apply to make it mine from a customized standpoint. I started with a sling.

First off, I read the BATF clarification letter in regards to the SB brace. If I am understanding this correctly, the brace can NOT be modified to make it stiffer or do anything to it to change design intent. It MUST have the velcro strap attached. Outside of that, use it any way you want, as by doing so does not change the part in any way shape or form. What I am looking at doing is attaching the sling around the back of the brace, it is the nylon webbing of the sling loosely looped and connects the sling to the brace. There are 4 holes in the rubber part butt area of the brace which I am unsure of their purpose, too fragile to be of any purpose of attaching a sling. One thing I notice with attaching the way I describe is it greatly enhances the stability of the weapon if using the counter tension of a taunt sling method and then bracing the brace against the body(cheek, shoulder, chest, upper arm, etc)

It may end up that I need to make a few phone calls to figure this one out. I can not imagine that i am the first person to intuitively look at the brace and think "wrap the sling there and keep it so that the velcro is readily available."

Of course it is the weekend, about all I can do is search for pictures on line. Just curious if anyone else has done this.

Wow, now I know what the holes are for, I'm not sure I want to pony up $30 for that doodad, but since they are adding a sling to the brace, the manner in which I currently and thinking of attaching (for now) would fit within the legal bounds. Obviously the doodad is a much cleaner option, I probably will do that anyway.

Thanks a bunch, you saved me a bunch of time and phone conversations! The EVO version i got, they eliminated a threading of a sling attachment point, but it does have the holes for a ring for single point attachment if you so desired. To me that point on top of the frame just looks too fragile.

I bought the doodad for the sling.

I have been thinking lately, this EVO might be the last gun I buy for a while. I had been acquiring about 3 guns per year for the past 5 years or so. So I have a nice collection of hand and long guns. I don't hunt, and I need to spend more time at the range shooting what I have. When I buy it has not been because something was a "good deal." I bought because it was a very nice gun with the reputation of being a great shooter.

So with the last comment in mind, this EVO is going to be exactly as I want it and when it comes down to a part to add or change, if I want to I will.
