Okay, looking at the Vortex Viper and the Vortex Venom. The Viper is 6moa and the Venom is 3moa it think. I guess for old eyes and I am not going to shoot at long distances, the 6moa would be better. Do they use the same slide cut? Would the tall sites be high enough to co-witness and is that even important?
Looks like you can get the Venom in 6moa also and I really like the looks of it better, not that that is all that important.
Of the two I would go with the Venom... it offers top-loading of the battery and the adjustment controls are not blocked by the rear sight ;-)
Also, if it were me I would go for the 6 MOA - I find it much quicker to pick up than smaller dots.
+1 I have two SR P-07's, one with a milled DPP and the other with Vortex Venom. The DPP is an excellent rugged RDS but it's very tall and took a very tall .440 front sight to get BUIS co-witness. The Venom sits lower, has markings at rear of the optic body for co-witness and it lines up almost perfectly with the stock tritium suppressor sight. Primary has a 'package deal' for milling and 6moa Venom like $360 + 20 to Cerakote. I liked this combo so much, I just had them do a SR P-09 which should be in my hands tomorrow (to replace my G17 Gen 4 MOS).
Here's an image of the Venom combo on my P-07:
Image below is my SR P-07 UG with the 2.5 moa DPP mounted (I actually prefer the DPP 7.5 moa triangle for SD). This is also a great set-up with the optional rear iron and very tall .440 FO front sight from Dawson. If $ is a concern, this cost almost 2X the Venom set-up above.
