Went to the range today and my report on my P-10 is a mixed bag
1st of all it was 30 something degrees with a brisk wind. Not really conducive for shooting outside without gloves.....my hands never really warmed up.....I should know better
Well here is the good. No ammo issues at all. It fired everything that was fed to it when there wasn?t an issue........
Which leads to the bad....
Loaded 5 rounds in the 1st mag. Rounds 1-4 go off without a hitch. When I got to round 5 I see this
At first I couldn?t figure out what the hell happened as I couldn?t get the slide to go any further forward. Apparently the freezing temps were affecting not only my hands but my thought process as well. I tried to recall all the possible issues that the P10 has and by process of elimination I arrived to the conclusion that the back plate had slid down....popped it back up and the slide went into battery. Out of the first 50-75 rounds this seemed to happen every 3 or 4 shots. I put it down for a bit and ran about 30 rounds through a Glock 19 that I picked up on my way to the range (went in for 2 boxes of ammo and came out with a G19.....don?t judge me lol)
Here is the 19....nice gray color
But I digress.....zero issues with the Glock as expected
Ran 5 more through the P10 and no hang ups on the back plate hmmmmm
Fired another 75-90 rounds through the P10 and the back plate did not catch and hang the slide like it did the first 75 rounds
FWIW the 1st batch of ammo I ran where the slide plate caused issues was WWB NATO 124 and Perfecta 115grn. The 2nd batch where there were zero hang ups was Remington and PPU 115. Not that I think any of this was ammo related, just mentioning it.
My back plate DOES have the new angled cut in it so I was a little surprised at it hanging up.
There is play in the backplate where it does move up and down a bit. I tried pushing it down as far as it would go to see if I could induce it to hang up with a manual cycle but no dice. Goes into battery fine
Has anyone else had this problem with the beveled cut in the backplate as shown above? Possible that it just needed to ?break in? and seat itself??
What is the solution from CZ for people that have had this issue? I take it there is play in that piece in everyone?s P-10
Overall I like the gun, just not sure if it grounds its teeth on that first 75 rounds and should be fine going forward
