Midwest Industries...solved several problems with one order
« on: March 18, 2018, 12:02:02 PM »
I had several threads and responses running here for the last few weeks since my Skorp arrived. A package arrived for me while i was away at work from MI. First up was an attachment point for a quick release sling swivel that attaches to the SB brace. Perfection in fit and finish, bought a quick release swivel with it and now my sling problems with the Skorp are 100% solved. I am using the same sling that i use on my ARs, a Condor Speedy. Trying to keep the usage across the board as familiar as possible. Everything snugs up or loosens up just fine.

Also in the MI package was the Apex Optimized grip. Installed it and it gives the feel from a grip angle standpoint of BCM grips that I have on my ARs. As someone pointed out in a previous thread, changing that grip angle gets my trigger knuckle away from the safety selector, so I doubt that I'll have to buy a different right side selector switch to fix the knuckle buster problem. One thing that I did not see mentioned anywhere about grips(I may have missed it) the Apex comes with precision cut grip tape panels that fit exactly in the insert sides of the grip. Also from the looks of the grip, you could cut a MTB bicycle tube to the correct size and fit it over the grip to give it a little thickness. This grip, which I am sure almost all of the aftermarket grips use/adopt as a grip angle, are the same. I compared the Apex with a BCM on the AR and they are about the same length, angle is very close, the only noticeable difference is that the the back strap area of the BCM is contoured to make it a little fatter. In the grand scheme of use, that little detail is not going to matter to me, it is the change of the grip angle that makes it a winner for me.

Now just waiting for my AFG from Vendetta to arrive. One last mod question...Looking at lights and or laser, I have a few options on hand I may use. Naturally it needs a rail piece to attach a light. Polymer or aluminum? I have considered both and am waiting until the AFG arrives so I can determine where on the handguard I want to mount the AFG and how much room I will have left for rail. Seems like there are quite a few vendors out there, been reading reviews, one guy had his rail piece break in the middle of a class and his item fell off. He went cheap on a rail and felt shame he cheaped out on a rail piece in the middle of his class  :-[ What is the rail on top of the Skorp, poly or alu?

The rail in the scorp is poly like the whole gun. Get a rail fro MI or HBI.
