P-07 & P-09 Dynamic Duo milled Venom Red Dot & BUIS <$390

Thought I'd share my positive experience achieving a very cost-effective milled red-dot set-up with co-witness BUIS; with shipping and extra insurance<$390.
There are a number of good sources for slide milling, but Primary Machine offers a 'package deal' 6moa Venom, Milling + slide Cerakote.  They also offer packages with Viper but I discovered the Suppressor-Ready tall front Tritium Sight lines up very well with the sight markings on the Venom to provide co-witness BUIS. I liked this set-up on my P-07 so much, I decided to do a P-09 SR as well.

P-09 is stainless Cerakote. P-07 is titanium Cerakote. Both came out really nice, but I do like the Titanium a little better.

Still trying to decide what to do on my SP-01. I have the JPoint mounted 'temporarily' using the Leupold dovetail mount, but eventually I want a more permanent RDS melt-in. Meanwhile, my next project is a RAMI BD with an RMR. Sending it to Primary to see IF they can do it. -Vinny

Just 5?  Mild case.  You'll survive it.  Not counting the plastic framed pistols or the full size metal framed pistols I've got 7 Compacts of one type or another (CZ75 Compact, P01, steel framed P01 looking).

They just shoot so well. We have dozens of brands/models at the gun shop, and other than some expensive 1911s and the Sig P226 Legion, nothing else floats my boat or is as accurate in my hands.  The P-01 and P-07 are excellent carry pistols, the SP-01 Tactical excellent competition pistols, but the coming P-09 will be a great "on the hip" in the gun shop or range gun or house gun - the pistol I take to defensive pistol refreshers. I am thinkinga RAMI will be next if I can get exceptions to conceal carry beyond the scope of work. Maryland gun restrictions are terrible...

Ha, I?ve been trolling this thread for awhile now...I picked up a P07 awhile back for this reason  . Boss I?m thinking my next one will be a RAMI as well that?ll be number 5 for me and maybe number 6 a 97bd...The only cure is buy another one from what I can tell.

It's a SHIELD RMS. Primary did the milling and Cerakote. Although it co-witnesses perfectly with the stock sights; I'm disappointed with the Shield RMS durability. I've got my 2nd one on it's way back to UK being fixed. 

If I could do it over; I'd mill for the Vortex Venom, and use the markings on the body of the Venom for my rear BUIS and if necessary have Dawson supply a FO front sight for $39.  JMO  YMMV

That's disappointing... but I'm not surprised.  I got so excited when I saw your picture and how well the shield fit the P-01, then hubby found a youtube video that said the durability didn't seem to be there.... So I figured I'd ask you.

I originally planned on a trijicon RMR (because of their reputation) until I found out about the whole plate and it sticks out on the sides, etc.

I have a venom on my SP-01 and it looks AWESOME (IMO)... the only think that has held me back is not being able to find a front site.  I didn't think about Dawson... but then, I was thinking of just a black front site and not FO.  I'll look into what they have.
