CGW Requests Website Input
« on: March 25, 2018, 12:06:21 PM »
We are in the process of revamping our website with the intent of making it quicker and easier to use.  Proposed is the following:

Shop by Model Number

This would list the particular model, and if you hover over the model, related model numbers will appear:  Example - SP-01, hover on SP-01 and "Decocker" and "Manual Safety" will appear.

On the same page as "Shop by Model Number", we will also have a second choice as well:

Shop by Item Description

This would list "Upgrade Kits", "Hammers", "Springs", "Sights", "Triggers", etc.

This would allow the user to select which ever method they want to use and either search selection will work essentially the same.  We are seeing a lot of new CZ owners, and being new to the CZ platform, sometimes don't know how or where to look.  CGW wanted to reach out to our website users for input before we implement any changes.

Feedback is welcome.

The shop by model number with the sub choices sounds very nice!

One thing I would request with the website is a more mobile friendly experience. Viewing the photos seems to be hit or miss from my experience on my phone.

Your shop by model number improvements sound great.

Also, I love when shopping for gun parts if the item description for the part specifically lists the guns that it will fit.  That final confirmation makes me more likely to pull the trigger and add item to cart.

Those sounds like awesome ways to shop and sort. Usually Wordpress templates aren?t that slow. It?s been a while since I?ve messed with coding websites and various platforms. Hopefully whatever new one you go with will be more functional.

Search and navigation are some of the teams I support. Our search engine is pretty sub par and we are doing a lot of research around the objective and intent of our users when they search. It is pretty different and more complex than ecommerce search behavior. BUT you definitely have the right idea with doing some discovery around why people are searching.

If it would be possible to search by what we want to do that would be awesome! Something like selecting ?Lighten Single Action Trigger? and the results return products you have tagged that lighten SA.

I agree with above- organizing by model # then by action type would be helpful.

Good idea ! I personally would like for all items for a specific CZ to be listed on what amounts to a "one page" basis, not having to go to multiple pages while shopping.

Add a results per page function, for example instead of having to view multiple pages, one could choose to view more results on a page, typically 12; 24; 48; etc.

I will second this thought.

I've had some trouble with the search function returning random results.

Shop by model number would be great.

I also think having shopping lists or a way to divide the cart would be nice.

I keep my guns and parts list in Excel. When I'm ready to buy, I go and enter them into your website.
It would be nice for me to create a "list" and then add items to that list. Then people can maintain this list in their account time and buy when ready.
I use a different tab per gun in Excel.

This is a good idea, i would rather avoid changing pages and just scroll down through more items. An option to select results per page would be nice.

On another note a gallery of cool CGW pistol build pictures would be welcomed. The few pictures in the slide show on the front page are nice but i want more.  :D

Another suggestion: this is a lot of work though.

More small installation videos. Keeps the knowledge at your website rather than online forums and reduce troubleshooting calls at your office. It makes things appear much less daunting when you can watch someone do it.

Example:
setting set screws in a trigger
setting the adjustable sear safety screw
removing the barrel bushing
removing the hammer spring
punching out the trigger pin
etc (Take your most common questions and record the solution to it)

I usually use the search function for item description...that way I see all items of that description that are available....and since I have multiple CZ's (as do most here), I also get to see what's there for my other CZs as well. But I also see Earl's point in that I also get things that don't seem related, so perhaps clean that up a little. I probably would not use the 'shop by model' very much, but others obviously would find that useful [if I used that exclusively, I'd be afraid I might miss something].
I do like the idea of working on a library of installation tips as time permits; of course, there are such things out there on the web and a lot of folks here have made some great ones, but youtube and politics may (or may not) start to whittle away on the availability of gun-related videos. Making them downloadable would be great as well.
