It's All This Forum's Fault!!!!!
« on: April 11, 2018, 07:05:57 PM »
I've been selling off some of my "duplicate" rifles (AR-15s, PS90, etc) and a few handguns that I have never shot because I just rarely get to go to the range.  One night as I was finished posting some of my auctions I thought I'd look at this forum since I hadn't visited it for a long time.  WHAT A MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Some new colors for 2018 and my favorite.....ODG!!!!  TIPPED ME OVER THE EDGE  ;D

I only have one CZ handgun left and it's my P-07 FDE.  I love that gun.  So when I saw the P-07 ODG there was no question that I was going to get one....I couldn't help myself.....my poor little FDE was so lonely  :(

I picked up my beauty today and have her all lubed up and ready to go.  Although both are GEN2 guns, there are four differences when comparing my FDE and the ODG.   This isn't surprising since even the CZ website states that specs can be different depending on how the guns were ordered.

(1)  The FDE came with night sights but they have some type of solid trit insert, not the night sight insert like the factory NS have with the white circle around them.  I knew that when the run of FDE hit the stores but the sights seemed to glow really bright.  Comparing them just now in a dark room......there is a huge different in brightness so I guess I'll probably be changing out the sights on the FDE....see what a trouble maker the ODG already is....little BRAT!!!!
(2) The FDE has a "fatter" and slightly different shaped trigger than the ODG
(3) The FDE came with a main spring with a lanyard loop (no big deal since I do have a loop one coming from one of our generous forum members) and some extra extended baseplates and the ODG didn't.
(4) The ODG has an LCI and the FDE doesn't

I'll have to see if the shape of the trigger matters to me or not.   My guess is it won't matter.

I can't wait to go shoot my CZs, it's been awhile.  I am really fond of the compact pistol (I always loved commander sized 1911s too) and this P-07 model really fits the bill.  I haven't had any issues with the FDE and don't anticipate any with the ODG.

Here they are in and out of their High Noon holsters.

The newer trigger shape works better for me. Hope you are happy with it.

Yep, had a couple of Rami BDs I sold and now think I might have to re-purchase another one once a new shipment comes in.......I'll never learn!!!!

Thinking of installing the same trigger on my FDE P07 that the ODG P07 has (just because I like to tinker) and also getting different night sights on the FDE.  I sold all my Rami accessories when I sold the guns so I'll have to think about grips, etc for it.....and another holster.

While I do miss my other CZs from the custom shop I'm sticking with the two P07s and a Rami BD for now.  Since I have such bad arthritis and problematic eyesight these days my "precision" shooting days are over so I want to just have a few dependable, modestly priced carry/home defense handguns and I do shoot the CZs well.

So, I guess I'll sit and wait for those Rami BDs to come in and maybe tune my P07s just a bit.  I have suppressors for my rimfires but don't think I'd ever suppress a 9mm otherwise I'd get the P07 UG just to have all three variations (and yes, had a P07 UG and sold it.....I'm a gun churning fool)  :o ::)

Updated to add a 4th difference.......the ODG has an LCI and my FDE doesn't.  The FDE is a 2016 gun and the ODG is a 2018 but I read somewhere that the change may have been in 2017.

Still haven't been able to get to the range, darn it!!!

Congrats on the new one! I am jealous.

Excuse my ignorance, but I finally signed up for this forum because I still cant figure out all of this (I may just suck at searching).   Was there gen 1 and gen 2 P09s as well?    I picked up a p09 in March and did all the cgw and polishing stuff and now I am scared that I may have gotten one of the rough ones.     Could someone break it down for me?

No worries and welcome! Answer - not to my knowledge. The only poly CZs with a clear 1st and 2nd gen is the P-07, with the first ones marked DUTY, and the second ones without plus all the changes from the P-09 put in. The Phantom might be said to have a second generation as the new ones have replaceable backstraps and new material, but otherwise identical. The P-09, to the best of my knowledge, is the same as when they started shipping.

What # hammer spring did you put in it?
what other Springs did you put in it?
And were you able to use a trigger gauge to measure the pull weight?

My 2017 P-07 came with a loaded chamber indicator on the extractor that my earlier P-07 and P-09 didn't have, but that is the only difference I have found.
I remember when "Common Sense" was common.  I must really be old!

What # hammer spring did you put in it?

And were you able to use a trigger gauge to measure the pull weight?

15# hammer spring
18# recoil (also have 15#)
Stainless guide rod
Short reset kit
Hammer
Reduced plunger
Reduced trigger return
Sear spring
Polished everything

Ordered everything from the pro kit separately because I?m stupid.  But I did not get the roller.   Which is now torturing my ocd of not having it in there.

Let me get this straight you did all of that and your pistol is so bad that you're scared you got a bad one ?

Hahah.  I got worried when researching about the faults of the gen 1  p 07 with the frame bulge and what not.   And the idea of doing all that to a p09 that may bleep the bed scared me.  I love my p 09 a ton.

I will get around to going to a store to test that soon.
