CZ75B New Edition on it's way to me
« on: April 13, 2018, 10:12:26 PM »
Hello CZ nutz.  As the title says, I've got a used CZ75B stainless New Edition 9mm on it's way to me, should arrive Monday or Tuesday.  I'm very excited to get this as I've thought that this pistol is the best looking production pistol I've ever seen and have been lusting for a few years now.  Also have some E-Lander mags on their way too.

The other pistol that is/was on my bucket list is a Beretta 92FS stainless 9mm, and a police surplus one is in process to me right now.  These two pistols may be the last ones I ever buy, and I hope to use the CZ as my first choice for IPSC (will hopefully start IPSC this summer).

Anyway, glad to join the club.

Certainly one of the nicest looking finishes CZUB has come up with. Congrats.

My bet is that you will be mighty pleased with your New Edition.

Of the 5 CZ's that I have, my New Edition has the best trigger.  Even the most picky pistol shooter at the range I go to really likes it.

I think these pistols get extra attention when being built.

As Psyop96 says, Congrats.

Bought one new last October from a dealer in RI who had 2 or 3. Love it! Very accurate, although the trigger isn't the greatest. Its a bit "gritty." Still love the pistol anyway.

Any idea if that RI dealer has any left and/or willing to ship if so?

Lol, I thought about that when I wrote it, but I've got a hodgepodge of handguns now, more than I'll get around to exercising individually very much, as here in pansy-azz Canada they can only be used at qualified ranges and I don't get out that often.  If I get involved in IPSC and Cowboy Action like I plan, that will further focus my usage.

I'm even contemplating getting rid of my Diamondback DB9FS (I find I don't like a spongy striker trigger) and even one of my Norinco 1911A1 .45 to thin the herd a bit.

The CZ75B New Edition stainless arrived on Wednesday, apparently 2011 manufacture.  I haven't had a lot of time to fondle it yet, but did a quick field strip and inspected the insides.  Everything looks good.  Haven't checked whether the sights glow good yet and it may take a few more days before I can get it to the range.  I'll post my further thoughts after a range trip.

It fits my hand nicely and I did find the trigger OK but a lot more travel than preferred, likely a function of the firing pin block design.  I've read that using a competion hammer can address the long travel/reset issue somewhat but wonder by how much and whether its a worthwhile investment for a "fun-only" participant in IPSC, comments?

I don't really plan on any "upgrades" for a while, at least until I finish taking the IPSC "Black Badge" prerequisite in July and getting some range time with it in the meantime.

The CZ75B is undoubtedly the best pistol in my 'rag-tag' collection and I have a Beretta 92FS stainless, circa late 80's or early 90's police surplus, taking its time working its way to me, so I'll be interested in comparing the two eventually.

I took the CZ75B stainless to the range today,  Shot 35 each of PMC and S&B 115g FMJ ammo without any issue.  The pistol flung the S&B cases about 20 feet at about a 30 degree angle to the rear, the PMC generally several feet less, lol. Although the pistol did not turn me into "The Sundance Kid", it shoots smoothly, muzzle rise was only moderate and I didn't really even notice recoil.

I generally suck at handgun shooting and my rounds tended to hit a bit low (I suppose I was used to my 1911 6 o'clock POA at first), but so did the test target that was still with the pistol case.  I find that the front sight should be held right on the target.  There were too many others at the indoor range otherwise I would have shot some from a rest first, but I opted for the outdoor range.

I bought this pistol more for looks than being any kind of target pistol and am happy to have it.  Now, lots of dry fire with my LaserLyte PRE insert to hone my poor skills before embarrassing myself in IPSC later this summer, lol.

I thought of throwing one up but it's just a stock 75B New Edition, so I felt that everyone knows what they look like already and no sense cluttering the site.

True about that! I also want to see if this 2011 manufacture has the Limited Edition roll mark on the slide and the black rubber grips instead of the no roll marked slide and red wooden grips of the later New Editions.
