CZ P-07 Decocker Question
« on: April 21, 2018, 10:18:28 AM »
Hello all,
A newbie to the CZ P 07 and probably a stupid question but one I will ask anyway. I switched the decocker to the safety just to check it out and the same day went back to the decocker. All went fine changing them and functions fine. That said, I noticed that there is a very, very slight amount of play, sloop in it if you grab it on both sides and squeeze it will move just a bit almost as if if wasn't snapped in all the way. Once I do that you can squeeze on it and there is no movement at all. After I fire it it goes back to the slight movement I mentioned. Keep in mind it is so slight and could even give you a measurement, you can't really see any gap if you look down on it from above and something that I could imagine nobody would ever notice I just did because I had just re installed it. I don't know if it did it before as it came with the decocker installed. Yes I am a bit anal and overthink things but just thought those with a decocker may check theirs and see if it's perfectly snug or if you squeeze it you can get it to move a bit making it tighter. I tried to attach a couple of pictures but can't seem to be able to or find out how to in the help section.
Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I think it is pretty normal.  I have one P-07 that does that and one that is pretty tight.  My P-09 is that way also.  It has never been a problem.
I remember when "Common Sense" was common.  I must really be old!

Thanks for the reply. It sure doesn't seem like it would be a problem but was curious. Only my second hammer DA/SA pistol and also the only one that you can change out from a safety to decocker so it does make sense it good possibly not be real tight, but it's very minimal and I doubt I would have noticed it if I hadn't switched them out. You don't notice it when decocking and you sure can't pull it off from either end. Was thinking about pulling it apart again and reinstalling but think I will just going to get to the range tomorrow and shoot it and enjoy.
Thanks again,
Steve

Mine doesn?t move. Did you get the hammer decocking lever spring properly seated behind the tab on the decocking lever?

Edit:Disregard I can see in your photo it?s installed properly.

I think I did and posted a link to a pic. It's just if you squeeze it like when you snap it into place. Just not real snug but not much movement at all and only notice it id you squeeze it from both sides. No issues as far as working properly, just fired about 10 rounds in the backyard and all went well. Just like if you grabbed it with you thumb on the left sift side and your first finger on the right and squeezed it moves a bit and tightens up. A very small amount but noticeable if you do it.

Thanks guys. Put some rounds through it this morning and zero issues. I did check a few times and at times it seemed snug with no play and other times had that very slight play. Sure doesn't seem to something to worry about and I imagine if I contacted CZ they would send a new one out. Before that I think I would just take it apart and snap the 2 pieces back together just to make sure. Like Crossfaced said I pretty sure the spring is in correctly. Past this minor issue that probably isn't even a issue, I sure enjoyed shooting it.
Thanks again for the input

Looking at the picture, the spring is in correctly.  Nothing to worry about.

On the one I have that is like yours, the de-cocker broke when it was brand new.  They sent me a new assembly and it has been like that ever since.  Not an issue.  This is what happened to my first one before it was even shot.

Yeah it seems the spring I got in right. I didn't think to check the decocker when I picked it up which came installed from the factory. Not really something you check and probably never would have noticed if it moved a bit or not. After I changed to the safety, just to see and then back to the decocker I noticed it because I wanted to make sure I got it completely push in which I think I did. I may shoot them an email and see what they say and if they send me out a new one I will replace it, it's a pretty easy task.
What happen to yours definitely needed a replacement. So far nothing like that has happened. It's is so slight I can see how you wouldn't notice and it functions just fine.
Appreciate your help and you seem pretty familiar with CZ's and you respond. It helps me out, even on the stupid questions I may ask.

When I talked to CZ, they said they had never seen one break like mine did, LOL
