Thanks for the info everyone. We're going to pick this up. The S/N at the LGS is 489xxx so we should be OK.
The only reason why I'm making a big issue is because in Hawaii we have gun registration. So buying this gun takes me 3 trips to the police station (they only have 1 window for firearms open) and 2 week waiting period. I don't want to go through all of that for a lemon.
Here's the process just as a FYI:
Buying a handgun
1) Take mandatory handgun safety course.
2) Show affidavit to LGS of above
3) Pay for handgun and get issued an application for purchase
4) Go to police station and show above application and wait 2 weeks for background check and mental health check
5) Go back to police station 2 weeks later and pick up handgun permit (5 days to pick it up or you have to start all over again)
6) Go to LGS and show them permit and take handgun you paid for already
7) Go back to police station and show them the gun so they can verify it
*Hawaii has a places to keep law, so while the handgun is in your possession, no stopping for lunch or coffee. There is also only 1 registration window. So with 2 people in front of you, the wait time is about 45 minutes.
