Thanks again everyone for your help.  Going to my LGS today to pay for it and apply for my firearms purchase permit with the police.  Won't get the gun for 2 weeks.

Like I said, YMMV.

Yes you did... But you also said:

Brand loyalty or fervent hope that all will be well are not strategies that I consider when betting my life on a tool.

I was just clarifying my strategy was based on performance. ;)

The best option for relaibility out the box lies with Glock and HK.

I have Glock, HK & CZ and I adore them all.

However, why deviate from HK since you can share parts, magazines and holsters?

Everyone needs a Glock...

But I find that the P-10C shoots better for me than any of the Striker-Fired pistols. Full admission? I've not fired nor held my VP9 in months as I wished to "get to know" CZ - both CGW-purchased P-07 and P-10C.

I'm anal and conservative when it comes to machines (I'm a degreed engineer...) so I don't care for MIM parts and welcome anything from CGW. So I installed the firing pin.

Full disclosure?

I just purchased a second P-10C on Monday. The local store had twelve ship in and they had no problem bringing out all twelve and they helped me sort them by target and I then tried the triggers on the "acceptable" targets so I now have two with exceptionally crisp trigger breaks.

The other thing you did not mention as a caveat is that the trigger pull quality is "all over the map." Get a good one and you will likely not look back.

If you decide to purchase the P-10C download YouTube videos on complete disassembly and reassembly and purchase the Armorer's Manual from CZ USA.

Some Glock holsters fit but since you're starting off new just order what's made for it.

It's a great fighting pistol - arguably the best on the market now.

opinions opinions. Glock and HK have had PLENTY of their own issues in the past, present and will in the future. I don't need a glock at all,I'm no striker fan. All I need do is handle one at the lgs to remind myself why I hate them. To each his own.

I have 3 Glocks and I cannot remember when I last shot them.  I had a VP9 and the trigger bite was way worse than my P10c.  I sold it.  I then got a P30-same trigger bite.  I sold it.  I now have the HBi gen2 trigger in my P10c.

Now I will say that I love really love shooting my P-07's and P-09, but I still find time to shoot my P10c.
I remember when "Common Sense" was common.  I must really be old!

ALL machinery has issues. Get over it. Glock and H&K DEFINE "reliable, durable modern pistol." And it matters not your emotional response to it.

So be it.

If you don't see the intrinsic value of a 9mm Glock in a "society down" situation then may God bless you...

You are certainly entitled to your opinion and no one is taking that away from you. If you think your glocks and hk's define reliability then more power to you. I'll stick with what works for me and defines reliability in my opinion. As far as a "society down" situation I'm not worried about that. Ain't gonna happen in reality since it's just one of those things guys dream about on gun forums. Been hearing about it all my life and like Y2K it's fiction.

If you think about the words I penned you'd know that it's stupid to believe no other pistols are reliable.

I lived through a several state wide/regional blackout, Hurricane Katrina and recent flooding here in Baton Rouge so I know better than to falsely believe that "it's only fantasy".

Good luck with that...

Sorry to hear you have to go through all the above just to exercise your second amendment rights. >:(   Sometimes I forget how nice it is to live in the free state of Arizona. With a CCW, you just go to the gun store, pick out your gun, fill out the 4473 and pay for the gun. Then go shoot it.  :)

Same here, in Texas.

While Glock and HK are known for their reliability, I have owned SIGs, CZs, and Rugers that have been extremely reliable with zero issues. None. Zero, Nada. Many consider these and others to be known for their reliability; nothing magical about Glocks; main advantage is availability of parts/accessories due to its popularity. Glock is popular because it's a good product, but more importantly that they effectively marketed their product WAY before the others realized what hit them.

As far as a "society down" situation I'm not worried about that either, but I am prepared for that eventuality.  8)

Gentlemen, keep it professional with no mudslinging or such.
I can tell you that I worked as rental range as a rangemaster and assistant CCW instructor a ways back and the ONLY guns that didn't malfunction was the Ruger autos and the Smith revolvers. Everything else, including SIG, HK, Taurus, Glock etc., failed in one way or another - no CZ,s because the only CZ we had for rent, (CZ83), was stolen right after I got there - no that WASN'T me,. :D I had 3 Glock pistols fail in front of me or in my hand, including one that broke the slide right under the ejection port. I have had a CZ -100 that was practically unshootable, for me. I had a Taurus revolver fail due to a badly assembled crane, and other guns over the years that failed/jammed/fell a[part for one reason or another. Some goofy ones was the guy with the Artillery Luger who was shooting on our range and his front sight sailed off down the range under recoil. We found it the next day and held it for him. Another was the guy with the Chinese made pump action shotgun during an in house two gun match, where the magazine cap popped off and shot down the range with spring in tow. He repaired that, and came back the next night. He fired a string of five, and while I was watching, the barrel ever so slowly tilted forward and ell off the rest of the gun. He sold it right afterwards.
As for the P-10C, I know have a sample range of two, and the original FDE has gone jam free for about 2K rounds, and the White Nitride has been jam free for 250 rounds. I carry it.
Last - dude...that's horrifying, I am truly sorry, hope you good gun people in Hawaii can get that changed, or, you could move here. We have miles and miles of beach....just no water. ;) Please let us know how this goes and how your wife likes her new CZ!
