Looking for a cheap close range monocular
« on: April 24, 2018, 03:10:16 PM »
I'm looking for a cheap and compact monocular to be used mostly at indoor range.
Main goal is to see holes on paper targets. Distance: from 6 to 25 yards. My budget is $15-20.
(Close focus is important, but I won't shoot something closer than 6 yards :))

Any recommendations?

Compact binoculars 8x20(21) or 10x20(21) would be much easier to use and not bigger than monocular. Often can be found on sale for your target price. I have a pair of BSA Compact 8x21 and Bushnell that I use all the time to scope hits up to 100m on the metallic silhouettes. Paper holes (22cal) can be seen up to 25-30m, larger 9mm or 45 holes seen to 50-60m.
I also have a more expensive Vortex Solo monocular 10x25 (~$50) that is not any better, nor more compact, but harder to use.

Look/Search  for an 8X "monocular".  I have one in my gun bag used just for those uses.  Mine was around $8 and only 4" +/- long with simple focus adjust.  Works fine out to 25 yards with 9mm but not for .22 rimfire.
The company that sold mine went out of business years ago,  They were HQ'd in Salt Lake City,  but others sell similar

Thank you all for the recommendations.

I ended up ordering SGODDE 8x25 binocular for $25. Similar to Bushnell Powerview 8x25 Porro Binocular, but is a little bit smaller.

I was going to say I found my excellent Sears marked binoculars at a pawn shop for $10 a few years ago...
