I Must be Missing Something on P-07 Extractor
« on: April 28, 2018, 07:06:26 PM »
I was having some failure to eject problems, so I bought a new extractor and extractor spring.   I don't see a hole, in the right place, on the underside of the slide to allow pushing the extractor spring through.   What am I missing.

The extractor spring is captured between the extractor and the slide. You should be able too see the end of the extractor retaining pin on the under side of the slide which will be drifted out to replace the extractor and spring.

Found the hole.  Just needed to wipe off some residue.  Pin is real tight.  Do you tap through from bottom or top of slide?

Do your pounding on the inside of the slide so you do not ding up the top of your slide.

I haven't replaced an extractor on a P07/P09, but on the CZ 75 you don't have to drive the pin all the way out of the slide (makes starting it/driving it back in easier).  Just drive it far enough out that you can pull the punch out and release the extractor, so you can replace the parts.

Also, been awhile, but I think on the CZ75 the pin is driven (from the top side of the slide) downward, to release the extractor.  That way, when you drive it back in, you don't risk smacking the pretty part of the slide with your hammer/punch.  I used a small piece of wood with a hole drilled into it so the pin wouldn't hit anything on it's way downward.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
