75 Compact Frame - Odd Machining Mark?
« on: May 13, 2018, 02:55:07 PM »
I recently picked up a factory new 75B Compact in 9mm. 2017 date code. I haven't shot it yet, but just broke it down for cleaning/lube prior to first range trip and found an odd mark inside the frame. I'm not sure if this is just a rough tool mark from machining after the casting. But it doesn't appear to be a crack or scratch. Does anyone else's compact frame have a mark like this? I'm assuming its not supposed to be there because it is present only on the right side of the frame (not left). Can anyone tell me if this is going to have a functional impact on the longevity/performance of the gun? Or is it purely cosmetic (in which case I don't mind)? Thanks!

I bought a new PCR in February and it has this same identical mark. I never noticed it until reading your post today. I think the mark is supposed to be there. If you look a relief groove is cut on that side and not the other and this tool mark was a result of cutting this relief groove.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not concerned with cosmetic issues, especially when they're on the internals. I just wanted someone else's opinion on whether or not a tool mark in this area would have any functional impact on the gun long-term
