P07 Lanyard Loop Durability
« on: May 21, 2018, 02:19:48 PM »
Hello Everyone! 1st Post.

I have a new P07 and am considering adding a lanyard loop spring plug. I like the idea of using it to aid in removing the hammer spring and I like the looks of it.

Can anyone here tell me if they are rugged enough to keep from collapsing when bearing down on it to release the plug pin? I know they are plastic.

Also, where is a good place to get one.

Thanks in advance for any info!

It is handy for removing the hammer spring pin and it is tough material. I don't think you will have any problem pushing on it, I didn't.

I haven't done it but I did remove my plug with the lanyard loop because I didn't like the look. It seems plenty strong enough and don't think it would break.

The loop itself doesn't collapse, but the P07 piece is different than the P09 piece.  It is shorter and slotted deeper and as you "lean on it" to push the hammer spring up into the frame it tries to bend at the bottom of that slot and cut where the pin passes through it.

I may eventually order a P09 piece and see if I can shorten it, but not slot it all the way to the pin holes.

I've only installed mine twice. Once when I got it and again a few weeks back when I had it apart to do some polishing and installation of the CGW reduced power springs on the trigger return and the firing pin block spring.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Thanks for the post! That was what I am worried about. I wonder why they went with a slot on the P07 version instead of a hole like the P09?

Thanks for the offer! I have already ordered the new plug and wish to keep the flat one in case I don't like the loop. Good to have a spare too. Thanks all the same though!
