Which models do you recommend for IDPA?
« on: May 26, 2018, 07:58:54 AM »
I am looking into an SP-01.  There are so many variants, I am overwhelmed.

I did grab a Shadow 2 but that is only for USPSA.  BTW does a Shadow 2 fit into an SP-01 holster?

Thank you.

SP01 manual safety or with the decocker will be nice, the latter of which you can start DA from the 'half-cock' position because that's where the decocker drops to, and the manual safety version you can even start cocked-n-locked for ESP division.  Same goes for a Shadow 1, which should still make weight limit.

No, the Shadow 2 will not fit an SP01 holster.  But both Blade Tech and Comp Tac have Shadow 2 holsters.

The Shadow 1 is IDPA compliant but discontinued, right?

I have a SP01T I shoot in IDPA. Works fine and I do enjoy shooting it in competitions. As MoRivera states, the manual safety version will serve you well too.

I also shoot my P01 Omega, PCR and P09 in IDPA matches and enjoy them all. Any of them are suitable to the game, just depends on your preferences.

S2 won't fit Sp01 holster.

75B for SSP, SP-01 for ESP, and P-01 or PCR for CCP.  I don't have one, but it looks like the 97 would be a good choice for CDP.  Looks like I have another excuse to buy another CZ.

:o

I love CZ's as much as the next guy, but I would try to hold on to at least one of those gems, unless I already had a lot of them.

Anyway, I'll be using this puppy for some SSP/IDPA and Production/USPSA.....

Nice one.
??
I have an Ed Brown Special Forces, Coonan 357 and MARS Armament THUG for 1911s, including the Glock 30/30S for 45 ACP and 1911s.

I just want a Shadow, Shadow 2, and SP 01, also.

Plus a Glock 41 45 ACP.

Shot it at an IDPA match today.  Shot great.  We had a stage that started with a 'twister' target, and it was basically a quick-draw....and I had a little trouble with the DA pull mostly because I wasn't as used to it.  On other stages where I had a little time too draw and prep, the DA was great.  Otherwise, the pistol shot very gently and accurately.

I still think I'll mostly shoot my Sig P226 Legion SAO in IDPA ESP, or maybe the Shadow in SAO for ESP too, but I want to work on that DA pull for use in Production in USPSA.
