Sorry for digging-up an old thread. What does "render the magazines inoperable" mean? Can I disassemble a mag and only give the spring or follower to a friend in another state or must it be the mag body/tube? OR, must all parts be permanently damaged? Still unclear about this. Thanks.

This totally sucks and ONLY inconveniences the HONEST law-abiding gun owners. Screw NJ law makers.

EDIT: A friend of mine here in NJ just spent $600 on 10 RD magazines for all of his guns.

Possession of all the pieces could constitute "constructive possession." Store them out of State.

California's last magazine ban (without grandfathering) was declared unconstitutional by the 9th Circuit. The Supreme Court may hear the appeal at some point so there is a chance they could be legal again.

Yes. The possession of all of the pieces of a mag will be forbidden but I'm asking about the possession of some pieces of a mag.

This is what I'm thinking of. If I ship the full mags intact to a friend in FL and he misplaces or damages them, then I'm out of luck. But if I only send him the tubes for instance then it's less of a loss for me if he should lose them.

Not allowed. You can have pins installed but they must be permanent. I would like to keep my greater-than-10-RD mags in case I move out of state or if I want to sell them.

I think I'm going to just send the mag tubes/bodies to FL and keep the other parts like the follower, spring, base, etc.  Not sure of the laws in this regard. Does anyone agree that this is legal?
