Hungary adopts the Bren 2

boom. awesome news for the Hungarian army.

They have been stuck in AK tech for a long time. Hungary is also adopting the P-09 and the Scorpion EVO.

Since we wont see the BREN 2 anytime soon...the BREN will never leave my possession unless its for a BREN 2 (if we ever get it).

Last article I read, quoting a CZ spokesperson, was 2020 but as more European nations adopt the it I?m sure the US release date will get pushed back even further. Just wish they had the capacity to keep up with civilian sales as they get more and more military contracts.

Military contracts are $$$$ especially with their success so far.

It is a much more adoptable platform than any other new gen rifle...the price itself is half of a HK.

What I think is likely happening is 805 parts produced to date heading to civilian use as military prefer the 806 (up to whatever inventory they decide they need to keep on hand)... Once those all built then they will turn to 806 for civilians.  Much more cost effective to run just one production line than two.

So unlike other weapon systems where first gen were issued and then went to military surplus -- we're getting first gen new that never were issued due to rapid evolution into Gen 2 due to military feedback on inadequacies...

I look forward to the 806 becoming available -- and ideally a caliber other than 5.56.  Restraining myself from the 805 has been a challenge.

No doubt on the beauty...  Just zero way to justify another 5.56 rifle right now, when for the same $ I can complete a half dozen or so AR and Galil projects that have been in various states of non-completion for months.

And once the AR market once again has a bottom, converting a couple AR builds into funds for a Bren or Bren 2 becomes a no brainer.

BREN 805 (even though it is not the BREN2)...is the best 5.56 rifle out there today...especially for the money.

Yes...better than a SCAR 16 in many aspects.

I was that close to buy/build an AR for my first 5.56 rifle. But at the end I decided to save more and get a Bren 805.

The instructor standing between troops and targets is crazy Ruskie bleepe at start.   And not something anyone who's spent any time training 3rd world individuals with (generously) third grade education and no ability to follow instruction would do...

At that point, instructor looks to have 7.62x39 while troops have 5.56.   Balance seems to be all 7.62x39 Brens.

Hungary is coming off the 7.62x39 round into NATO....the adaptation of the CZ platform is to also solidify inter relations within the V4 due to the EU bureaucracy.

Nope -- completely missed that.

I know that Mk319 mod 0 was specifically designed for SBR .308/7.62x51, a 130 gr OTM bullet and powder designed for SBR.

I don't know as much about the Army's M80A1, with it's 130 gr Steel Penetrator, Copper Slug, and Copper Jacket bullet, but it's at least a reduced recoil round. 

But IIRC, the M80A1 bullet costs significantly more than the all copper mk 319.
