Sellier & Bellot FMJ 124 gr (Black Box, yellow bullet)
« on: June 13, 2018, 03:00:43 PM »
I received my order from Brownells with my favorite practice ammo (S & B 124gr).
It is interesting that color of the bullet is yellow, exactly the same as brass cartridge. Usually, copper bullet is more "red-ish". And I have other S&B ammo where color of the bullet is very distinct from cartridge color.

Is "yellow" bullet brass coated? Or different % of copper/zinc in projectile?

Montana Gold bullets are certainly jacketed with brass, so there's no reason the S&B couldn't also be done that way.

I see yellow bullets on many European ammo. S&B, Pobjeda, Geco. It is true jacket (FMJ) and brass alloy just has different copper/zinc proportions. Not a problem, they shoot very well.
