Evo Frame Cracking
« on: June 25, 2018, 10:44:03 PM »
https://youtu.be/i4LZTVcOWnQ

Just came across this: per video, allegedly 3rd or 4th time w/ just that rifle.  Unfortunately no context, including in comments.  Video from Nov 2017.

Anyone have this happen?

Posted by James Reeves -- the dude attorney who likes short shorts and tight shirts and does videos for the firearm blog.

Idk, I have to call bs. If it is the 4th time, I'd have to guess he is buying new shells, and not sending the gun in. I'd be willing to bet CZ would have replaced that fun by now.

In looking closely at the opening photo in the video above, that's not a scorpion magazine laying on top of the gun hiding the hole at the chamber either.

Just saying.

Kinda looks like a Uzi mag. Look at the groves in the Maxwell? Uzi conversion?

The fact that the video is only 6 seconds long speaks volumes too.

I call BS too. Judging by the rust, it appears the gun was greatly mistreated and I'm sure it was something the shooter did to break it. I have (5) scorpions and never had any type of issues. But then again, I take care of my investments.

That is a mag for a B&T 9mm PCC, probably just had another gun at the range, as I know of no way to use it in a scorp

Good info, same date as original James Reeves video, TFB TV posted this article and video:
https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2017/11/17/bt-ghm-9-best-pistol-caliber-carbine-date-4k-uhd/

https://youtu.be/O-KDEMHhw7c

EDIT: Looking closer, B&T gun's muzzle thread protector is visible in first video to right of screen and same mat in first video as is seen during B&T disassembly.
So the magazine angle looks to be a dog that won't hunt.

Overpressure reloads or factory, but since it was the 4th time, I'd say poor attention to detail while reloading.  I shoot +P+ out of my scorpion all day long and the heavy bolt barely moves faster, and it was designed as an auto subgun, and this is the internet folks.  I could run over the scorpion with my six thousand pound SUV and it wouldn't break like this.  Internet nonsense or repeated stupidity.

He posted it to his personal channel rather than TFB-TV so doubt it was for views (less than 2k for evo video originally linked vs nearly 96k for the B&T one linked later).  Certainly, it was posted to share -- for other folks to see -- but definitely not as clickbait.

Maybe if we start asking in comments on more recent posts of James over the firearm blog he'll loop back here or youtube to clarify.

That much rust on his 4th one?  I am calling either complete bs. Legit who would have the same gun explode on them twice and keep it?

If I had to guess, I'd say it's probably a range rental gun.  Uncertain why that would be "new info" to the firearm blog writer if the dude sharing that was his friend rather than someone present while he was doing his shoot and review of the B&T gun.  And for a shoot like that in front of the fireline, I doubt anyone else was present on the range, so the evo likely belonged to the range and/or range employee.

That sort of. Tack is caused by use of overpowered loads. My guess is he is using handloads with the wrong or too much powder.

So...he has had that much trouble with them, had them replaced that many times, and the most he can do is shoot a 7 SECOND video showing the problem?

Even if true, this is dumb. There should be enough Scorpions out there that if there was a problem with frames cracking, others would have experienced it.

My favorite part is "it's like the 3d or 4th time it's happened..."  Yeah, if I'd had the happen, you can be certain I'd know exactly how many times it had happened.
