EBay Mag release- anyone running one?
« on: July 07, 2018, 07:35:19 PM »
Found a extended paddle Mag release on eBay, just curious if anyone is running one. If so what's your impression regarding it?

I've been researching and looking around. There's lots of good options out there from Yeti Wurks, HBI, Gearhead... all that have positive feedback from people here.I saw that same posting and saw everything kinda looked generic. Not knocking Precision Part Source and maybe they really have sold 47 of them but I see alot more feedback, reviews, pictures, and YouTube videos on I guess "Brand Names" here. When I purchase one I'll purchase from a vendor that has earned their name, and hopefully buy once.

I know this isn't alot of help but when I go to grocery store, I buy Coke/Pepsi... not generic.

I say go with HBI or another proven name.  Stay away from ebay junk, you'll just end up replacing it down the road.

I'll let you know how well it works when I get mine in.  I just ordered one.

Oh, and I love generic soda.

I'll eat my words... Saw one on another site and looking at it, it looks nice physically. Not sure about fit and finish but it did look good on Scorpion(IMHO). The writer did say it was smooth which I think is a minus. If Shooter's Element had the machining that one had on the side to help break up the lines, I think it would be a home run personally. Or if the eBay one had spent the times to put tactile serrations. Just my .02

On Facebook, there's a "CZ Scorpion Enthusiast  Group." Someone posted a picture of one installed on rifle.

Thanks, but that leaves me out. I don't do Facebook.

Me neither but my wife does. Been using her account to join that Facebook Group. I'm searching every crevis of the internet looking for a Side Project Link stock. That being said, I'm getting pretty desperate. On the plus side it is really interesting seeing what people are doing, commenting, and writing about. Lots of cool pictures and ideas.

So I took the plunge and purchased it anyways. I had a friend tell me he'll take it off my hands if I didn't like it.

I just received it today, feels great in terms of quality. The coating is smooth, yet no texturing or serrations. I would love serrations as well. It would match my Nelson stinger trigger if it had it. But for less than 20 bucks I'm not complaining. If I'm really tempted I'll just have a buddy mill some serrations into it.

Here are some pics, I still need to install it.

I got mine in today and installed it.  It's pretty nice, but it does have a sharp point where my index finger pushes on it.

Weights:

Factory plastic mag release:  7 grams

Aluminum E-Bay mag release: 17 grams

I installed mine yesterday, can't say there are any sharp points on the one I received. I'm actually quite pleased with this Mag release considering the cost.

Here's a quick pic I took of it installed:

I'm referring to the most rearward point on the mag release where your index finger would push on it (if you don't use the paddle portion to activate).  After a little research, it looks like all the aftermarket mag releases have that point.

As you can see in the following photo, the factory mag is concave, so I don't have that problem with it, but I'll leave the E-Bay mag release on for a while while I test it out.

Oh I see. The edge of mine isn't too sharp. The cascading convex of the stock Mag release required to change my grip position for me to reach the release. I have short fingers, the eBay Mag release makes it easier for me to release the Mag without adjusting my grip. Do you think it's worth the money?
