Changed P07 Tactical trigger
« on: July 19, 2018, 12:59:30 PM »
I didn't like the straight type of trigger so I ordered the curved trigger for the P07 Duty/75 Omega from CZUSA. They must have changed the polymer frame dimensions after the Duty model. I had to file a good bit on the inside of the trigger guard. The bottom of the trigger was catching. Got it all squared away. It looks fine and feels 100% better. Did the CGW TRS while I was at it. So if you are going to do this plan on a little filing.

Hmmm, interesting. Thanks for the info!  Was thinking I must be the only one who likes the hooked trigger better lol.

I put the hooked model in my p09 and had to do the same thing. Bottom of the curved trigger would catch the inside of the trigger guard ever so slightly. No big deal with a little bit of emory cloth and some fine sabdpaper to polish out the scratches

Yeah.  Put the old Duty style trigger in my .40 S&W P09 sometimes last year.  The trigger was a tad painful after a magazine or two of the 135 grain Nosler hollow points.  The P07 DUTY with the curved trigger shoots the same ammo and my finger never bothered me.

The new style trigger in the 9MM P09 is still there since recoil from the 9MM gun is so weak.  No trigger/finger/pain issues from a gun I have to keep telling myself is actually firing.

I had to scrape some plastic of the inside/bottom of the trigger guard, too.  Used my pocket knife, if I remember correctly.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Wouldnt it be better to modify the trigger instead of the frame?

Trigger is metal and has a rust/corrosion resistant (not rust/corrosion proof) finish on it.  The frame is polymer and doesn't rust.

To take metal off the bottom of the trigger, even if you had a way to refinish it effectively, you might have to install it, try it, pull it back out, remove some more metal, install it, try it, etc.  By scraping/filing/sanding the inside of the trigger guard can be done with the pistol assembled and you can test trigger clearance as you go so you only remove enough to make it work.

I didn't even try to make mine look nice.  Scraped it with my pocket knife.  Either it's in a holster (where you can't see the trigger guard) or it's in my hand (no one will be trying to look inside the bottom of the trigger guard) or it's hidden/out of sight where I keep it when not wearing it (and no one can see the inside of the trigger guard, or I'm shooting it (and it's so much fun to shoot a pistol that shoots nice groups I don't even think about the trigger guard.)   Actually, the .40 S&W P09 doesn't really impress me that much (group size) as my .40 S&W P07 DUTY and my 9MM P09 shoot better groups.  But my wife used to think it shot really good groups and I thought I was going to "lose it" before I got her that last CZ75 Compact.  She's happy with the small groups that gun shoots, so I got to keep the P09 .40 S&W.  Funny how that works.

My particular P07 needed enough material removed for clearance that to have removed it from the trigger would have been unacceptable. You really can't see the removal on the frame. It blends in fine.
