« on: July 20, 2018, 10:39:59 PM »
If you guys want to see another picture of the new BREN 2 ------ there is one for sale on GunBroker, but of course us peasants can't buy it even if you have the money !!!   Just search under CZ Bren and you will come across a select fire Bren 2 for sale.

Hmm. Let see... Late 2019.  Most likely March or April of 2020 after shot show. That is 19 months away. So, I need to save at least $100 per month. That is doable

good thinking romukum!  long ways off, but easily affordable if you plan for it!!

so how do the magwells work?  the ak and ar mags go in the same one? or they swap out? the shot show vid where he explained it didnt make sense, maybe i should rewatch it

There is an insert in the magwell.  You pull a clip  then pull out the  insert for the Nato mags.  Then swap the barrel.  See the explanation at 1:35

You'd think, right?   :o   Don't get me wrong, I love my 805, but something very similar but lighter would be excellent.

In the last few seconds of the video, the CZ rep says that the semi-auto version will be available in late 2018 for individual purchase.

The number I keep seeing bandied about is sometime next year for the civilian variant.  There's a pretty big thread about it on the AK Files forum.

I wonder if the scheduled Hungarian licensed production of the rifle starting soon has helped CZ out with developing the semi-auto variant?  CZUB's main site doesn't even have an actual semi-auto variant listed currently.

I'm not 100% sure if this has been posted before, but here's a video (sadly in Czech) about the Bren 2.  I'm kinda sure it might have been posted before, but I asked about this with the mod team and bumping threads more than 2 months old is usually frowned upon.  Besides, the search function doesn't like it when I try and search for the Bren 2:

FWIW all our distributors are at/near zero stock levels for both pistol and carbine, with "coming soon" listings for the Bren 2.

Mine too.

Hopefully it's not a case of CZ letting the pipeline run dry too early.

Right now LE/armed forces orders for the Bren 2 are taking priority.  However, it seems that CZ themselves have said that they're aiming at next year for the civilian version to be ready.  The civilian version of the FB Radom MSBS Grot (another new 5.56mm rifle that I'm interested in) is out in Europe, for example, though that's yet to have ATF approval for import here.  At least CZ would have more pull than FB (a newcomer to the North American market) to get stuff in since they're already established.

I do wonder, though, if CZ licenseing Bren 2 production in Hungary might help with getting the civilian Bren 2s in the pipeline quicker.  IMO, that can only help, though right now the Hungarian Bren 2s are being built from knock down kits (like the CZ P-09 pistols and Scorpion Evo SMGs) while the factory in Hungary is retooling (the factory originally made the Hungarian versions of the AK-47 as well as update kits for them).
