I have been wearing a Hanks kydex reinforced belt for around a year. I noticed that it was sagging more than usual recently, and upon inspecting it, I noticed that it had a spot where it was creasing. I can feel the stiffener is in two separate pieces there.
I sent an inquiry to Hanks about it, and I'm hopeful that they'll repair the belt under warranty. I have read about similar cases in the past. Meanwhile I need a new gun belt, so...
I had also been considering a Kore belt already, before my Hanks belt failed. I like the concept of small adjustment increments. I find myself often alternating betwen two belt holes on the Hanks, depending on whether I'm sitting or driving vs. standing or walking, to manage comfort vs. sagging.
I went ahead and ordered two Kore gun belts, a leather and a nylon one. With a promotion code I was able to get two belts and a hanger for 100$ with free shipping. The nylon or "tactical" belt is supposed to be double stiffness and rated for twice as much weight, 8 lbs vs 4 lbs.
I have also read and seen a few Kore reviews where their plastic stiffeners cracked over time, so I won't be shocked if I have a similar problem with these belts over time as well. I didn't think I should need a steel-core belt for my P-07 and extra mag, but I guess I'll consider it if I have more plastic stiffeners break on me in the future.
