It is better to get a decent safe for under $1000,then place another smaller one, can be had for under $800 inside of it and after that put a small biometric one(approx$200-400) inside of the smaller one.LOCK THEM ALL,OTHERWISE IT'S VERY UNSAFE AND YOU ARE IRRESPONSIBLE SON OF A GOD.

What would you recommend for a safe for 2-3 handguns?

My $.02 - I would recommend it if you can afford it. Even a cheap gun locker bolted down will make it more of a hassle than it's worth for your local meth heads. If you can buy GOOD, then buy good - I do not regret a penny I spent on my safe.

I won’t recommend a brand but I would recommend getting the largest safe you can afford. The safe I bought was about 3-4 times bigger than I needed for what I had but it was the last of a Shot Show special that this dealer had in inventory and the deal was far too good to pass up. It took less than 3 yrs to almost fill it up, and I thought “ There’s no way I’ll ever fill this up.” ;D  Just my $.02

I'm a big fan of liberty safes. I will say it's always better to go bigger with safes because they dont really hold what they say they do.

As many have already said, something is better than nothing with regard to deterrence so yes, you need one. And bigger is always better when it comes to a safe...I have yet to meet someone who has fewer thing in the safe than they had planned.

here (croatia) police go to your house to check if you have adequate safe for guns when you buy firearm for the first time.

If this were a requirement in Texas they would have to form an entirely separate department to handle all the safety checks. ;D

Your State law may require you to have a lock on your weapons with minors in the house, check your specific parameters. You shouldn't be forced to buy something you don't want, certainly a standard lock that most likely came with your pistol should suffice.

cabbage?

Having an unloaded firearm for a tool is about as useful as having an ax without a handle.  A fire extinguisher without any contents.  A door with no lock or handle.   You get the point.

If I had to have one UNLOADED I would have to switch to my Desert Eagle to have one heavy enough to beat a robber with.

To add my 2 cents, if you need a mover I have used these guys a couple of time. He has contacts almost everywhere.  https://nickoftimemoving.com/

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

A tip if anyone is interested. When I bought my safe I was weary about having strangers move it. So I went to the hardware store, got some 1” pvc and cut about ten 3ft sections. I used a crowbar to pry one corner up and worked a section of pipe under then rolled it onto to the rest of the sections. Then of course as you roll it move the sections of pipe in front as they come out from under the safe. So I was able to move an over 900 lb safe easily by myself anywhere I wanted it.

NOTE: If you have a two story house this won’t help. ;D
