You don't really need it, but you could mount a compensator or brake.  The muzzle device is a flash hider.

You could also change the flash hider to a different one.

I changed the factory flash hider to an A2 style. What is the advantage? It no longer looks factory so it's a bit more unique.

Plus the obvious advantage of rendering each shot .005% less visible to the Ninja Sniper Assassins who plague my local range and frequently take out the less tactically sound operators.

Seriously though, the most aggravating part was having to order the thread protector ring from CZ to hide the 18x1 threaded section. $13 was reasonable for how intricate the part is, but the extra $10+ to ship that part chapped my arse. But not having it would have driven my OCD into overdrive.

Mine came with that ring from the factory.

Picked mine up used... Hearing it may have been part of the factory package is irritating, lol.

Mine came with that short 18x1 ring. How is it used?  It?s much too short to protect the 18x1 threads.

No, it's perfect if you plan to use the 1/2x28 threads and want the 18x1 threads covered...

The factory carbine comp is actually quite good.  I was going to change mine out but am not convinced that anything on the market would do any better.

Ok, I see the difference - I have an HBI handguard on mine and don?t use the barrel nut.  It?s not applicable for my situation.

Mine came with one too. It took me until the first cleaning when I removed the flash hider to figure out what it was.

I just ordered a Kaw Valley Precision linear compensator (the small ~2 inch one) I'm hoping this will do 3 things for me:
  • Make it more comfortable to shoot indoors (i usually go to an indoor range)
  • Allow me to push my mounted light a little further forward without muzzle blast depositing carbon on the light.
Having the light really far forward the front is more comfortable for me
  • Look super cool

I thought the device was a "compensator", because that's what my manual calls it in the parts breakdown.
My device looks like all the internet pictures of the Scorpion, so I guess the manual is wrong.
I tried posting a picture of what I have, but can't figure out how since PhotoBucket stopped supporting it.
Don't take me wrong, I definitely can't tell the difference.  I just want to make sure of what I have   ;D
