ta-90 mag size
« on: August 05, 2018, 09:20:30 AM »
Hi, new to forum. I own a ta-90 that I bought in late 80's when I lived in Ohio. Now live in Buffalo,NY area and have finally gotten my pistol permit. The gun came with a 13 rd clip, but to import it to NY can hold no more than 10 rds. Have seen on this forum that it's possible to get 9rd mags for some of these guns. My serial # is G02229, is this model capable of using a smaller mag? Thank you for any help.....

Is yours the compact model by chance?
Full size TA90 should have come with a 15rd mag, but the compacts came with a 13rd mag, some had a baseplate with a pinky rest.
Sounds like an older "Pre" model.
Maybe CZ75 pre B mags or Pre88 series mags will work.

Maybe this one .http://gregcotellc.com/cart/cz-factory-mecgar-actmag-c-173/cz-75-compact-cz-pcr-cz-p01-10-rd-9mm-factory-magazine-11104-p-1426.html

That looks like a parts kit gun I purchased that came with Pre 88 Tanfoglio mags. Pre B CZ75 mags should work, but  with more knowledge than me will chime in and confirm.

These might work http://gregcotellc.com/cart/cz-factory-mecgar-actmag-c-173/cz-75b-cz-75bd-cz-85-cz-75-sp01-9mm-factory-10-rd-11102-p-1427.html

IF your Pistol is as is shown in the sales ad, then what you have is a Full Sized mid-transitional Series 88 TA90, such as the one I have, that was bought new, and not a parts gun.  Normal Magazine Capacity is 15 rounds. Your Pistol will use small Frame Witness/Baby Eagle and Cz75B Magazines.  You should be able to buy reduced capacity 10 round Magazines from EAA (small frame Witness) and Magnum Research (Full Size Baby Eagle) and maybe Armscor (MAP1 ).

I have 10 round Mec-Gar Small Frame EAA Witness/Baby Eagle  magazines that run great in my Series 88 TA90. Used to use them for USPSA Production Division.

Failing that, look into 10 round Mecgar Cz75B Magazines, as they should work just fine, also.  Note that I regularly use Mec-Gar Cz75B 17 and 19 round Magzines in my Full Size Tanfoglio Pistols and they run fine!

Also, you might get better pricing with some other online Magazine Retailers, such as Grabagun, Greg Cote, CDNN, and Gun Mag Warehouse.

Series 88 Tanfoglio 9mm TA90's, Full Size and Compact. These have been exceptionally accurate and reliable.

Sandbag rested 25 yard Accuracy of Tanfoglio TA90 with 9mm Match Handload consisting of 124 grn Berry's PFP over WST powder

My sincere condolences for moving into Communist Occupied Territory!  :'(
