Linear Comp question
« on: August 12, 2018, 03:34:06 PM »
I was wanting to order a Linear Comp from KAW but I'm not sure what thread my gun is. Scorpion Evo 3 s1. How can you tell which thread to get?
Thanks for any help.

You'll have to get a thread pitch gauge

Basically what it comes down to is Gen 1 or 2. Gen 1 has 18x1, Gen 2 has both. 1/2x28 on the first section and 18x1 behind. So if you remove your flash suppressor and see 2 different size threads you could use either if the comp you want is available in both threads. If it is I would get the 18x1. It'll allow the comp to sit back further and cover the 1/2x28. If you go with the 1/2x28 it'll leave the larger 18x1 treads exposed and probably wouldn't have the appearance you're after plus leave the threads open to damage. Although those issue could be addressed with a 18x1 thread protector but it's also another part to buy.

Gen 2. The smooth part infront of the 18x1 threads is a thread protector that unscrews to reveal 1/2"x28 threads.

Is that the FDE model?

Looks like Gen 2 with both. If I were you I would remove that thread protector and toss it in the trash. It'll come loose while shooting

I wish someone had warned me of this. I went from shooting fantastic groups to not even hitting the paper at 7 yards, 20 rounds later. Hahaha

You would think they would of made sure if wasn't going to accidentally come off like it does with regular use. They must of used up all there allotted loctite on the barrel nut
