A guy walks into a pawn shop . . .

Making a delivery for a family friend who?s folks live in a small town out in the boonies, I walk into a tiny pawn shop (just because) and start checking out what they have on the rack.

Found a 452 varmint in .22, several dings on the stock, action and barrel seem a little dirty but not too bad. Used but maybe not abused, $425 on the tag, just not sure if it?s something I should jump on since I never see these or if I should just pass on it. I got the feeling that they won?t budge too much on the price.

Was planning on scoping the American before anything else but honestly just walked up on this one and am tempted... What do you think?

I?d say ?buy it?.   If you check around, people are selling / asking $550 for American, and Varmint worth more than American.

Go for it...you can always sell the rifle down the road if you're not happy with it.

First range trip with super cheap temporary fixed power scope just to get her to the range. Two shot sight in, good times.

Thanks, so far this CCI is affordable, consistent, and reliable. Getting the job done

Yes you are fortunate to have found a Varmint! They're about as scarce as lips on chickens. And it seems you did find a really GOOD one.

Like I said, CCI SV is not Match Ammo, but it really is good stuff. For most of my life I burned up all kinds of Winchester Western Super-X stuff. It was OK, and always available locally, prior to online ammo sales. Next came Mini-Mags and out of curiosity I tried the SV about the same time I discovered a Rimfire Forum. Boy was I surprised. I still use the Mini-Mags but 90% of my shooting is with the SV. It's consistent in my 10/22s and thankfully even better in my CZ.
