Apologies if I should've posted this in the range report thread. I wasn't sure if it was only for CZ's so I posted this here instead.
Work has kept me away from the range more than usual lately so last Saturday, between loads of laundry and otherwise preparing for the next business trip, I found an hour to take a new HK VP9SK FDE out for a test run.
30 rounds, Geco 115gr FMJ, 7 yards
As usual, all-over-the-place while figuring-out POI and best sight picture during the first two magazines. The pistol feels absolutely great, though, like an extension of my shooting hand. Surprisingly, it was just as comfortable to shoot either with or without the pinky-finger extension on the magazine. Trigger is a tad heavier than my Walther PPQ's but has a crisp break and a short but not ridiculously short reset.
Heck, it always takes me at least one box of ammo to get warmed-up after being away from the range for several weeks. I put the VP9SK away for a few minutes and ran a box of Fiocchi thru my CZ Shadow 2.
50 rounds, Fiocchi 115gr FMJ, 15 yards
The Shadow 2 is just effortless even when I'm mag dumping with it. I always thought the Browning BDA (rebadged Sig P220) I bought in 1981 was the most accurate 9mm pistol I ever owned but the Shadow 2 really out-does it by a considerable margin.
OK, now back to the VP9SK.
50 rounds, Fiocchi 115gr FMJ, 7 yards
I really can't explain it. Taking a break to shoot the CZ Shadow 2 must've been a good idea, either that or the VP9SK just
really likes Fiocchi ammo. Whatever it was, that's about as good as I shoot any sub-compact 9mm pistol at 7 yards with factory ammunition.
While the paddle magazine release will take some getting used-to, I can't find many faults here. I didn't think anyone could build a pistol as comfortable to shoot as a CZ but, it seems HK has been able to get pretty close to it with the VP9SK. I'm impressed!
