CZ Forum convention for Czechoslovak Centennial? [emoji3]
« on: August 23, 2018, 11:02:49 PM »
Too bad, this is going to take place in a city and county dominated by rabidly anti-2A politicians. Anyone going to be in town during that time? Oct 28 is the actual date but Sep 28 will likely have better weather for a celebration.

?The centennial of the founding of the Czechoslovak Republic, as well the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the independent Czech Republic are the main themes for the many social and cultural events taking place in Chicago, United States, in the autumn of 2018. The main event, the Czech Centennial Gala, will take place on Friday, 28th September 2018. Together with its daughter company, CZ-USA, ?esk? zbrojovka a.s. is the main platinum sponsor of the celebrations, organized by the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Chicago.

?Thanks to its handgun production and a strong automotive and aviation division, CZ is the largest Czech exporter to the USA. The Czechoslovak armament base was built in the spirit of this motto: ?A firearm in the hands of courageous defenders is the best guarantee of the nation?s freedom!? And we continue supporting the principles upon which Czechoslovakia was formed 100 years ago in many respects. Indeed, we are very proud to also be able to support the centennial celebrations in Chicago.?

You missed the one in free country!

I have no Czech heritage, but my Dad (100% Finnish decent) took me to Sandy Bottom Lake Sokol Camp several times when I was a kid.  He must have known some good Czechs.  I usually won the races and sporting events in my age class, but also had fun catching fish (and eating the food in general, especially roasted corn dipped in butter, salted)  Maybe THAT was American culture?!

I didn't even know there was a Finn Camp nearby until I was a young adult playing in a Men's Softball league!
