** SAFETY ALERT ** new "black window" CZ magazines
« on: August 24, 2018, 12:35:29 AM »
I just discovered that my new CZ "black window" 30 round magazine does not allow the magazine catch to fully engage.

Discovered this by tugging on the magazine to verify that it was fully seated and several times the magazine came out. Then I looked at the mag release and it returned only 1/3 of the way to the fully locked position.

I have a early 2017 CZ Carbine with no modification to the magazine release area. I tested 5 original design CZ magazines and one Manticore magazine and they do not have this issue.

A little filing on the "black window" magazine catch solved the problem, BUT this is my "home defense" mag loaded with +P Gold Dots. So glad I caught this.

No issue with mine.  However, I'm using HBi Duckbill mag release.

I've seen this same issue reported by a few others... I don't own any window mags myself yet, but it's definitely an issue with some Scorps.

It should be an easy fix with a fingernail file or sandpaper on the magazines lug.

Mags that need tinkering to work - there's a surprise.

Dear Mec Gar,

You can make a bundle if you apply your magic and make an all metal Scorp mag that we can count on!  When it comes to mags, price does not trump reliability.

Thanks,
A Disappointed Scorp Owner :-\

Don't have any black window mags because the first case of original 30 rounders I bought when the pistol was released years ago are still in the wrapper.  Original 2 20's and 2 purchased 30's have many many thousands of rounds through them no issues both suppressed and unsuppressed, subsonic to +P+.

No need for aftermarket mags here or metal mags for that matter, OEM are GTG full auto and are fine with our semi version in the US.  All these "NEW" CZ variations and aftermarket mags to solve nonsense internet forum issues are just that nonsense.

I thought the same thing until I stored them loaded on the shelf. I had 1 crack on me over night while I was changing triggers. 17 Rds in a 20 mag with 3 cut Springs. I was impressed. It was fine for a year in the weapon on a closed bolt.

With all due respect, the multitude of cracked OEM mags that I experienced were far from nonsense. What would be nonsensical is if I kept buying them. Happy to hear they're working for you.

I have (2) 20?s and (14) 30?s, I loaded the 20?s on day 1 (September 2016) and have not touched them, no broken feed lips.  I loaded all the 30?s and shot them to verify function, all worked fine, as of right now I have 9 loaded with 147 grain HST, 1 in the gun, 8 in a carrying pouch on standby, none have broken lips or cracks.  I use 2 of the others as range mags.  It sucks that so many people have had problems with the OEM 30?s, it is well documented as a problem at this point, I am fortunate to have not been 1 of them. Palmetto State Armory was looking at making their own 35 round scorpion mags, we will have to see what those are like

Also my manticore magazines sold by prepper guns is gtg I have 2 of them and they have 100 of rounds through each no problems. I like them as well I also have had no issue with factory magazines. That doesn't mean there is not an issue I have just been lucky with the OEM magazines.
