NEW 452 Training rifle purchased today
« on: August 24, 2018, 08:36:23 PM »
Was searching for a different rifle (not a CZ and not a .22) Came across a web site that had a 452 trainer for sale...but the text below the photo was referencing a 455 trainer.

Called the store up and they surely did have a 452 Trainer...and also a (or more than one, I didn't ask) 455 trainer.

Needless to say I scooped up the 452 for $405 shipped.

I'm pumped but sadly it was the last one as I just checked their site and 452 trainer is now listed "out of stock".

Not inexpensive but I guess they are like hen's teeth anymore...I'm happy and look forward to shootin' it real soon...Due in next Friday.

Weaponsmart.com

But as I said, 452 training is now listed as ?out of stock ?. He did say that they had 455 training rifles available but I would imagine they are available at many places. Seems to be a nice site and they were good to deal with.

Well I picked the 452 Training Rifle up today from my dealer. I am very pleased but for one thing...

The rear tangent sight leaf has too much play left to right in its housing. The sample target seems to reflect that , though I'm sure it is in spec. I know there are tolerances on any and everything produced (I work in the Engineering Department where I work and deal with them on a daily basis) so this is a case of tolerance stack IMO. If you grab the rear sight and move it from side to side, it probably moves between 1/64 & 1/32". Not significant for some things buy crazy significant with respect to a rear sight.

No I will not be sending it into CZ for evaluation/repair. I plan on removing the sight leaf and soft soldering a thin piece of brass on one side, drill a hole thru the brass for the pin and then file the brass shim until I have a nice tight (but moveable) fit between the leaf and housing. Not a particularly involved repair but one that should not be needed on a CZ...a Taurus maybe but not a CZ.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I found this for sale NIB but dissapointed that I just can't take it out and count on it to hit consistently once sighted in. Any bump of the rear sight and any hope of consistency flies out the window.

I wanted to shoot this rifle this coming weekend but not sure I will be able to get to the repair before then. Actually I don't think I'll be able to rest until I get it done before Saturday...I'll post when finished. If motivated enough I might take pictures of the repair and post them in this thread..... Time will tell.
