RAMI 40 S&W 9 round magazine question
« on: September 18, 2018, 06:46:06 AM »
Yesterday while a friend was picking up an SP-01, I noticed that the store had a number of 40 S&W RAMI magazines.  I decided to buy two 9 round magazines.  Once I got home I noticed that they looked like my 8 round magazine.  I loaded up the magazines and yes they fit 9 rounds, but if the magazine held 9 rounds it was not possible to insert the magazine until it latched with the chamber closed.  Basically I couldn't have a "9+1" it seems.

Am I correct in thinking that the 9 round magazine is meant to be a spare magazine with 9 rounds and is an "8+1" in reality?   If anyone knows the answer to this I would appreciate knowing.  BTW, the RAMI is a fine pistol that will always have a place in my safe.

Just catching up with this thread.

Not sure I understand.  Why can't you put the magazine  in with 8 rounds, rack the slide, remove the magazine, then fill the magazine to capacity with 9 rounds?

The magazine won't latch into place with 9 rounds in them.  And if it does the  top cartridge gets a little dinged.  I'm reconciled to use the "9 round" magazines as spare magazines.  I spent several hours trying to make them work as a "9 + 1"

I appreciate your time and thoughts.

I hadn't noticed the problem.  I've got two more magazines that I just bought on GunBroker as NOS that should be here in about a week.  I've got one now, and it is 9 + 1 in my gun.  The fit is normal, and the top round in the mag does not appear to be dinged or distressed.

I'm still learning about my RAMI.  I'm a big fan of .40 (I have a 75B in .40) but have not shot the RAMI enough to be familiar with it.  Maybe I'll get some range time in on Friday and will shoot it as 9+1 and see if there are any feed problems.
