CZ P-10 C Striker Disassembly and Reassembly
« on: September 22, 2018, 04:06:37 PM »
Sometimes when I put the P-10 C slide back on the frame something jams and the pistol simply won't go together. Usually the barrel and guide rod are sticking out. Worse, the slide can't come off the frame. I pull the trigger, wiggle the barrel, whatever. It's very difficult to solve. I'm left with about an inch of slide hanging off the rear of the frame.

A couple of nights ago I decided to remove the striker to see if the slide would release. I reached in with a punch and took pressure off the slide cover. I slid the cover off and -- SPROING -- the striker flew eight feet across the room. I picked up the striker. At least the slide now came off the frame easily.

I reassembled the striker into the slide and reassembled the pistol. It seemed to function normally.

Next morning my wife was vacuuming and found a little chrome pin. I knew the striker had come apart.

The pin was the Automatic safety pin (3g on the parts diagram). Fearing the worst, I looked around and found the tiny Automatic Safety (part 3d). I then watched the video below and discovered the really tiny the Automatic Safety Spring -- part 3f -- was missing. I ran a large magnet around on the floor where I thought the spring might have gone and -- amazingly -- found the spring.

In order to reassemble the three parts of the Automatic Safety I consulted the video below. It was very helpful.

I don't need nor recommend the trigger polishing job. But the striker reassembly section that starts at 16:30 really helped.

Moral of the story: be aware the striker has parts that can easily depart and are a challenge to 1) find and 2) reassemble. Fortunately I have tile floors and found all three parts, eventually.

I sent the safety spring flying too when changing out a striker spring. I slip on the bench and flipped the whole assembly onto the floor. Had a tile floor too or would have never found the parts. That was in 2016 so I didn?t have a video. That little spring and pin were a challenge to get back together correctly. Glad you found the parts. I could see that tiny spring even getting lost in an envelope during shipping. I can?t imagine have the assembly line job of installing those all day. David

HKparts.net sells a modified pair of needle nosed pliers called the "trigger return spring tool." Might help to hold onto those tiny coiled springs. Apparently the trigger return spring on a VP9sk is almost impossible to re-insert without this tool.

Purchase for only $15, or you could make your own if you're handy with a grinder.

I?ve been a HK armorer for a few years and done quite a few P2000 conversations from V2 LEM to V1. The trigger return spring is fine with the tool. A coworker made ours out of a set on needle nose.

The issue with the CZ spring is it is tiny. I had my reader glasses on with a magnifying glasses taped to a broom handle held in my vice.  After chewing on my bottom lip and getting all sweaty I got the CZ striker safety spring back together. The CZ was up there in difficultly for me. The HK burst trigger group reassembly is probably the worst I?ve ever done.

The key thing to remember is don?t ever let that pin come out of the CZ striker. David

These $7 3x clip-on Harbor Freight magnifiers really help me with the tiny stuff.
