VZ58 Magazine Production Date
« on: September 22, 2018, 05:56:17 PM »
Hey guys,

As you might have seen from my other thread, I'm new to the forum and am looking for information both on the rifle itself and on making it compliant in my state. I used the search function and did not find any threads on it.

Is there any way to tell when the surplus aluminum magazines were made? They have to be pre-1994 to be legal for me to own. I don't see any markings on my magazines.

Thanks!

Steve

some time long ago I opened an original factory sealed plastic bag in which the grey aluminum mags were packaged
I don't recall the exact number of mags in the bag  (perhaps eight)  but included was a slightly yellowed piece of paper with a name of the person who packaged or inspected them and a date stamp. In this case it was around 1972 I think. I saved the paper for similar reasons you implied and I'll post a picture of it once I find it again. There were no other markings...

Awesome info. I wish I had papers like that for mine! A picture would be highly appreciated.

Sa vz. 58 was produced in CZUB for Czechoslovak army from 1958 to 1983. Parts were produced through next years, but definetely not 10 years. So all original weapons and parts ARE MADE BEFORE 1994.

These NOS magazines from Numrich are supposedly "manufactured by CZ in the 1970s" are really nice. They have a glossy gray finish, but I see no identifying numbers or letters on them.

Original CZ magazines should have army acceptance mark "crossed swords" and quality mark  (OTK)

OK, I see that now, thanks!

A lot of mine from Numrich have a number "2" under the "OTK," so not sure what that means.
