Okay - new to CZ. Love my 75D Compact PCR, hate the sights. Just turned 70 and it's going to replace my HK P30sk green laser for EDC once I get the sights figured out. Obviously I can't use the green laser with the PCR so I need some help here with sights I can acquire quickly with older eyes and that work best for personal protection distance first and paper targets secondarily. Big dots are a possibility as I'm considering a two dot system using CZ Works or whoever parts. The problem is the range of sight combinations is staggering and I've never sued anything but three dot systems. I am also considering a blacked out rear and bright front sight and would like to hear from anyone using such a setup. Help an old guy, please?

I too qualify for geezer class [emoji16]. About a month ago I put Truglo TFX Pro's on my P-01 and I am VERY happy with the result. As an aside I had been using the stock sites since I purchased the gun in 2003.

My EDC is a P01 Omega. Being 63, and being farsighted I struggle with sight picture too. I use the Truglo TFX Pro sights and really like them.
-
Have a 75 Compact that I bought new in 05. I also looked and looked at all the aftermarket possibilities,in the end I blacked out the rear sights white dots and patiently built up the front dot with hi viz yellow/green paint. Ten buck solution and works like a charm.
Yep, I am cheap.

tneimeyer & Double Tap, did you replace sights by yourselves or used a particular gunsmith? I'm asking because I'm going to do the same with my P-01 Omega, and found a lot of info that rear sights are extremely hard to replace.
Thx for info.

I used a smith at the range. I watched him do it and he had a little bit of difficulty with the rear.

I did it myself, I tinker with quite a few of my firearms and had purchased a good sight pusher several years go. I don't remember it being too difficult but again I used the pusher. Before I had the sight pusher I had a gunsmith change the sights on my guns.

I've always struggled with 3-dot style sights. The blacked out rear and FO front works best for me and you'll find no better than Dawson Precision.
I'm nearsighted and with 3-dot sights, front sight focus, and both eyes open I see 6 dots making the sight picture very busy and it slows me down. The single dot of the FO simplifies things quite a bit.
I tried night sights, but don't see the point. FO is more visible in more varied lighting situations. Night sights are really only advantageous in very limited situations like twilight, so when people say they're required for self-defense weapons I'm always left scratching my head. The hybrid style like TFX look interesting, but I'd probably want to black out the rear FO somehow. Tru Glo doesn't offer just a front sight alone as far as I know.
I've also tried the XS Big Dots and as much as I WANTED to like them I just didn't. The white golf ball doesn't draw my eye like a crisp FO does. And while NOT as inaccurate as some may have you believe, the black rear/FO front combo is still faster and more accurate for me at all distances.

It appears CZ Custom has the TFX front, but their compatible rear is out of stock. This seems like a decent setup in theory.
One thing that bugs me with CZ aftermarket is rear sights are predominantly those long sloping types with the race gun aesthetic. "Tactical" sights should have a pronounced ledge for one handed manipulation, IMO.

I went with the same TFX using the orange front ring option vs green. The fiber optic is fantastic for me. I have Dawson Precision sights on a Walther PPX and they are an excellent choice.

Yup, I'm pushing that number 70 too.
I'd agree that the TFX sights are a good solution for both day/night and had 'em on my P-01.
However, realizing my eyesight will continue to get worse, several years ago I started outfitting several of my handguns with Red Dots, beginning with an optic-ready Glock 17 M.O.S. that came with mounting plates for all the popular Optics. After several months of 'learning curve' I realized the Red Dot was simply faster and more accurate in all light conditions; and with both eyes open focusing on the target I had greater situational awareness. And short-barreled pistols IMHO benefit most as they have the same accuracy as a much longer sight-radius pistol. I'm ALL-IN now on Red-Dots, even my little RAMI BD has one. My only guns not red dot (yet ;D ) are my pocket pistols. For my 'ol eyes, the Red Dots have kept me in the game. There's more than one way to skin a cat.......Just Say-in

This! I'm only 56 but my eyes are bad enough that using iron sights with my progressive lenses is an exercise in frustration, especially since I'm cross eyed dominant. Shooting without my glasses allows me to see the front post better but the target is not nearly distinct enough. I've tried a host of high visibility iron sights but while they helped a bit I was still more frustrated than not. Desperate, I recently had my beloved 5in PPQ M1 milled for an RDS and it changed my world. No more frustration and it's pretty easy to get used to. It's been enough of a game changer that I'm installing RDS on all my favorite guns, from handguns to ARs, EDCs to range toys. Right now I've got an SP-01 waiting for an SRO at CGW, a P10C in line for a Holosun at Primary Machine and once the SP-01 is back home, my PCR will be getting a CGW defensive carry treatment plus Shield RMS. I recently asked the CGW folks for their recommendation for an RDS for the PCR and Dave replied: "The Shield RMS is pretty bitchin' for the compact CZ's. Fits and works great on a compact CZ."
Can you tell I'm enthusiastic about RDS? :-)
Good luck!

When I wear the right glasses down to the pistol range I can see the sights pretty well but the target is fuzzier with the glasses vs. no glasses. With no glasses the target is pretty clear and the front sight is invisible to me.
I'm not 100% confident I will always have my glasses on so I can see the front sight when I need to. Glasses fall off, get knocked off, get broken, etc.
I have an RMR on my EDC P07. With my glasses (reading or driving) the dot is pretty clear. Without my glasses the dot is fuzzy. I know, from shooting it that way, that I can put a fuzzy dot on a clear target. When I can't see the front sight at all, I can see that fuzzy dot.
I will, once I settle on a pistol to carry around the yard, garage, back lot while doing outside stuff, working on cars, etc. have a red dot installed on the pistol that wins the reliability/accuracy testing. The M&P has fallen by the wayside due to poor accuracy. The CZ75B .40 could be it, but man, it's so pretty I hate to gouge/scratch it up crawling around in the dirt/gravel, etc. The XD45 is still in the running, too. The FNS Long Slide groups look good, but the trigger could be an issue (may be too different from a standard hammer or striker fired pistol) due to moving back and forth from the P07 to it.
I probably should have just bought another P07.
Once again, in case anyone lost my opinion/experience in this long reply - get a good red dot installed on your EDC pistol.
Here's mine. Works like a champ. Primary Machine did the milling, cerakoting, front/rear sight installation and screwed the DI RMR to the slide for me.

When I'm testing the newer/non CZ pistols and getting PO's at the results (and wondering if it's me having a bad day) I pull the P07 out of the IWB holster and shoot a group with it. It usually makes me feel better (it's not me, it's the new pistol/ammo).
This is not the best group the P07 will shoot for me, but it's a good example.

M1A4ME:
That's some very impressive shooting. ^
Maybe it's You, Maybe it's the P-07, Maybe it's the Red Dot; but the combination seems to be a formula that just flat-out works for you. I think you already know the answer to what would be the best EDC for yard and garage work. Two of a good thing is not too many. ;)
-
Vinny, the P07 shoots good without the RMR, too. But the RMR widens my options for loss of glasses or low light environments.
Pre RMR group. No explanation for the bottom center hole not in the group. The bottom left hole was me trying to shoot a big old bumble that was hovering in front of the target. I missed it, but it sure left in a hurry. 12 yds., off hand, those 135 grain Noslers sitting on top of a compressed charge of Blue Dot.

Just replaced my P-01 stock sights with Truglo TFX (not Pro), which I picked up second-hand from a forum member. Much better, especially in very low light (obviously). But shooting it at range today for first time alongside my neighbor with Glock Ameriglo sights, realized his orange front ring FO really pops for me much better than my new Truglo TFX white ring front.

New to this forum but also fall into the gizzer realm. Just got my CZ 75 Compact and the factory sights just don't work well for me. Looking at the TFX Pro sights and was wondering if the Compact slide would have to be milled or are the tru Glow sights a direct fit. Thanks for any info that you may have.

I just had Truglo TFX sights foe CZ75 installed on my P-01. took him 30 minutes and cost me $30.
After first trip to range I wished I had just spent the extra for the Pro version with the yellow/orange insert instead of the white.

You do not touch slide. Just clean the notch with alcohol once you remove old sights (remove all debris and oil).
You might need to polish up the base of the new rear sight... however as I know TFX Pros have good fit.

Thanks Jurek. Will be ordering the sights soon. Do you recommend a gunsmith installation or can these be installed with reasonable ease?

if DIY, use a sight pusher. Truglo says that hammering them in could damage the vials and will void the warranty.

I definitely recommend gunsmith installation.
It's better to spend $30-$50 (and have perfectly done job in 30 minutes) than fight with hammer and punch (if you lucky to remove old sights) or even worst - spend $100 for sight pusher :P
-
What sight pusher are you guys using ???? My old eyes can't take the small Dawson vials on my PCR....looks like the TFX Pro would be a great choice for me....without a pusher...are these doable ??

Anyone have a link for the exact TFX Pro for the 75 D/PCR?
How hard is it to get the pin out on the front sight?
Thanks

PCR with TFX Pro... not the purtiest side view but they work.
I installed them myself using an inexpensive sight pusher.
-
The Tru glo tfx pro's made a really big difference for my older eyes. Had my local gunsmith install them on my cz 75 compact. Sights were right on after installation.
-
I've used the cheap VISM sight pusher (works on the rear sights) on 3 P07s. One CZ75SA, one CZ75B, two CZ75 Compacts, and two P01 Omegas. Hasn't broken yet and that first CZ75 Compact felt like it was about to move a small truck before that factory rear sight finally broke loose and began to move.
Front sights on the metal framed models are easy to start and easy to finish, but can be aggravating during the middle part of the job.
Start - removing the front sight pin and end - installing the front sight pin.
The aggravating part is if you get a sight that either requires making a complete notch in the base or slightly opening up the base if it's not quite big enough/lined up correctly so the pin can be reinstalled.
Removal of some factory front sights is so easy you wonder why all the talk about them being difficult. Then you run into one that you will be ready to swear was silver soldered in place prior to the pin being installed. You pound on it and pound on it and suddenly if pops loose and begins to move.
Put some lube, liquid wrench, PB blaster or something on/around the sights once a day for a couple/three days prior to starting the job. Give it time to work in there and lube up the surfaces the sight will be sliding against on it's way out.
I have used brass punches to remove CZ75 front sights. I've used a shade tree method of placing the top of a slide up against the corner of my work bench so the rear of the sight is against the wood and then smacked the end of the slide with a rubber/soft faced hammer. It does a number on the wood along the edge bud after several good wacks the sight comes loose without damage to the sight. Honestly, the brass punch and hammer is a better way to do it but you almost need three hands (one to hold the slide, one to hold the punch and one to hold the hammer.) You can use a vise (I'm sure lots of folks do) but sometimes the bench/vise isn't were I'm at when I'm replacing sights.
And, finally, I'm old enough/eyes bad enough now, that no front sight is good for me unless I have my glasses on. If I loose my glasses in a scuffle I can't see much of anything up close but the blob that is the pistol and my hands. I have an RMR on my EDC P07. If I ever get figured out what my around the property carry pistol is going to be it will get a miniature red dot, too.
With glasses the red dot is a red dot. Without my glasses it's a fuzzy red dot, but I can see fuzzy and put it on the target.

Aging eyes (near sighted) and pistol sights are a major growing frustration for me.
As for shooting glasses, I have a custom set with right dominant eye focused on front sight and support side eye on distance. This allows me to compete effectively with steel challenge or IDPA. I will be trying one more set of custom prescription glasses with distance in the main lens and a small oval set of readers at the top of the lens shortly.
For defensive shooting practice inside 10 yards I do fine with or without prescription glasses and Dawson precision fiber optic front and rear on my P-01.
I will experiment with a red dot soon. I tried that recently at my favorite range and I'm convinced this is the way to go not only for bullseye shooting but for competitive shooting. I have obtained spare slide for my spo1 tactical and will have that milled for an RDS soon. Red dots on my ARs and Scorpion with a distance prescription are the bomb!
I am 62 and frustrated

Boss, I think once you commit to RDS, you'll never look back. With your distance prescription both the dot and target should appear sharply focused.
The good thing about RDS is that it's especially effective for dry-fire practice (with an O ring under the hammer) you'll get where you only focus on the target with both eyes and present the pistol with the dot consistently on target. You'll see any movement of the dot as you dry-fire; and it's certainly helped me improve without wasting live rounds. Hope it works as well for you as it has for me. -Vinny

It's interesting. I HAVE committed to a red dot on the rifles, and competing with a 9mm platform is easy with my distance prescription. The dot is clear since it's a single plane projection.
Last year when I tried an RDS on my P-01 I found it clunky shooting competitively. But after taking some instruction at the range recently, I was able to focus on what I was doing wrong. There is a nice 8hr course for RDS equipped pistols that is on my list once I get the SP-01 set up...
