Hi everyone,
I am quite new to CZs but I am a DA/SA guy from my old Berettas. Had not been shooting for a looong time but recently got back to it again. Don't know if going with CZs was the right or the wrong thing but Beretta 92 was going to be too large and I don't like anything in their compact / subcompact line up! By and large, striker fire handguns, vis a vis, the Glocks / M&P Shields are just not for me (old fashioned & old timer) but no disrespect is meant for their fans. I guess I just like to jump into the deep end of things and then learn the hard way by spending $ which is the best education if you can afford it!!!
For reference, my other CZ is a P-01 for which I made another rookie themed thread in here:
https://czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=108955.0 (https://czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=108955.0)
For which I very much appreciate the responses I have already received.
I may still do the same kinda CGW upgrades to the RAMI as in the P-01 (trigger, floating pin & reduced power return spring) + Ultra Lite kit + Extended Firing Pin kit. Also, aware of feeding issues but I do tend to use higher quality ammo plus here in CA, no 14 round magz so no worries there. Also rodger that already said by giving it a good oil (Hopp's or mineral?) bath + clean. I like lots & lots of dry firing first with A-Zoom snap caps.
Lastly, I am not a consummate complainer and I come in peace :)

Welcome, I think the Rami is an excellent choice!!
-
Thank you Earl.
Unfortunately the decocker version is not available to us here in CA as it is not on our DOJ's roster but the safety model is exactly like my old school Beretta 84B in almost the same size, albeit a bit wider but weighing a bit less. I shoot the 84B in .380 acp well and I'm used to the manual safett feature although I would've liked the RAMI to be in the same P-01 (decocker) platform. Ah well :)
-
I really like my RAMI-been a very reliable and accurate carry weapon. After a good initial degreasing followed by a good lube job she has always ran like a top.
-
Oldbear: Thanks for another vote of confidence. I currently have about $200 worth of upgrade kit and spare parts in my CGW cart despite the promise to myself to keep the RAMI stock. Ha! Anyway, can't go wrong with having parts if I want to be more serious than the occasional shooter and safe-queen admirer (I already suffer from that affliction with my fancy knives!). I know what will follow next above and over the aforementioned, fancier grips and night sight just like my P-01. Ugh, I'm a lunatic but feel that I'll fit just right in here ;D
-
Congrats on your new purchase!
-
Thank you Yellowlab :)
The CA 10 days wait was over and done with earlier today and the RAMI is now comfortably at Home ;) Right now, I'm looking at some LOK grips since my P-01 has LOKs. I will forego the TruDot night sights, I think! I am thinking the thick trigger from CGW as opposed to the "old style" which I had installed on my P-01 as the OS gave him fits but the thick one is currently out of stock at CGW. If anyone has had good/bad experiences with the thick one from CGW, please let me know. Also planning on changing the OE trigger return spring for a reduced power one plus putting in a floating pin. Lastly also ordering an Ultra-Lite kit and then will leave it at:

I did the same 3 things you listed without the ultra lite kit. The thick trigger made a Huge difference for me. In addition, I put on a set of XS Big Dot sights to replace the puny/tiny OE sights, which helped me greatly. So, I would say they were the best things that happened to my Rami. I also got a set of Cool Hand grips in Blue from Amazon.
-
CZ-USA had Rami grips on clearance recently, not sure if they still are. I bought a pair with texture very similar to LOK Bogies, but they had several other textures/colors available. Shipping is a little pricey, but if you buy some spare recoil springs etc it isn't so bad.

I've already ordered a set of LOK grips in their cross-check pattern for the RAMI which I should be receiving in a week or so. I have bought their grips before to put on my P-01 which I like, so I went back to LOK: made in USA + great feedbacks and reputation on multiple online site earned my attention.
The main spring replacement made some discernible difference in my P-01 although it did not smooth out that tiny bit of grittiness in the SA mode as the trigger is creeping past the wall to the break point (note: I am being very anal here because under normal or stressful shooting circumstances, a shooter will not remotely notice any of this trigger action snobbery!). I have been told to smooth out that tiny annoyance, I will have to change over the hammer and polish more internals, the sear, yada, yada... Not that crucial in my case!
I was holding out on changing the sights but I am afarid that these beady little OE ones are not going to work for me if I seriously should consider the RAMI as a main nightstand / CCW weapon, but then again my P-01 is already set up for that purpose. Oh heck, who am I fooling?! I know that I will be replacing them but can't do the sight replacement on my own (don't have the necessary tools / machine). I assume that this is the one which you went with?:

Thank you for the thumbs up on the Thick aka "combat" trigger but CGW is currently sold out :( Did you instal this trigger yourself?

Thanks Earl. I already went and ordered a set from LOK before I had a chance to read your post for the lead. I have also put a set of this in my CGW cart: 60001 RAMI Recoil Spring, but also came across a thread last night here that some people were going with a set for Kimber which reportedly also fits the RAMI with great success rates after some finagling!

Yes those are the sights I bought and put on myself. I didn't install the trigger, etc as I have somewhat shaky hands and didn't trust myself with doing that. There is a guy at my LGS/shooting range who owns some CZ's and he did the install for me for $10, so I lucked out. This Rami will be the last gun that I buy as it carries so well for me and my Sig SP 2022 is a great range gun.

Nothing wrong with LOKs, all of my other CZ's wear Bogies. I haven't tried the Kimber springs yet, but plan to.

Love my little RAMI, but I also didn't like the stock Mepro's. Tried the Big Dot's and as much as I liked the Big front dot, I just couldn't get used to the "I" rear sight. I made a set of custom rear sights by modifying a set of big and bright CZ suppressor-ready rear sights from a SR P-09. Those worked pretty good, but I had an extra RMR kicking around and saw a video of CGW milling a RAMI for an RMR..........That was it!!
Sent it to CGW for milling and a tall BUIS and so glad I did!
With the RMR that little RAMI shoots so accurately like a much longer sight radius pistol.
Just Say'in. More than one way to skin a cat. O0

My P-01 scales are not the LOK Bogie pattern but they are thinner that the OEs (no palm swell). I just for got the name of the pattern ??? I may get a set of Bogies in black later on.

I've got to hit the sheaths threads to order a couple of sheaths, one for each.

Looks great and I am sure that it almost feels like, heck it actually is, cheating! ;D
I'm older (56) and eyesights are not what they used to be but the Meprolite TruDot tritium serves me better much, much more than the OE's on my P-01. I also have to agree with you that I have never had anything with a rear-sight shaped like an I.
-
HaHa. That RMR does feel a bit like cheating.
Well, 'ol guys like me gotta have some kinda edge. LOL
Here's some images of my Big Dot front with 'customized' P-09/07 SR tritium rear that fit the RAMI dovetail perfectly, but I had to file the notch a bit wider and lower to match the Big Dot and POI.

Well Vinny, you have at least inspired me to look into an RMR option for my lil RAMI fella! I have ZERO experience with installing sights / optics so it will have to be a job which I commission to an outside smith. I am not planning on doing both though, i.e, upgraded sights AND optics. Suggestions?

Customary superfluous sexy group pic after swapping factory grips with my new LOKs :)

I would encourage you to contact the good folks at CGW who did an exceptional job on my RAMI/RMR. They are well experienced with milling a RAMI for a Red Dot and can give you several options. They are also the only one I could find that understood the RAMI's mill-cut needs to have at least a 2 degree forward tilt so the optic will zero properly (look at how much taller your rear sight is compared to front). You might also want to check out the new Holosun 407K mini-micro RDS. I've had one on order from Optics Planet for my P-01. Hope to see it soon. -Vinny

is the Light one of the preferred lights for these or are there other options that fit this little thing just as well?
-
Another vote of confidence. And I haven't fired mine. Just got it hours ago.
I am also traditional (safety, not de-cocker), and own a Beretta, All the same reasons as you.
I've been running thru the book taking this thing apart and she is sweet.

Went full on CGW pro parts, thicker trigger and race hammer on my RAMI which I just picked up today alongside with my P-01 (both completed by HoneyBadgersGuns here in San Diego). Polished internals and the whole bowl of wax and my gosh, what a difference now. Oh my, my, my! I was thinking that with the amount of money which I was sinking onto these 2 CZs, I could've easily bought a couple of $1K+ Sigs but now that I have the end results back, no sloppiness, no grittiness and none of that other stuff which we poo-poo at, I am glad that I got these instead and went through the experiences because they just fit me better than the Sigs :)
