Hope it is redesigned bullpup! Maybe like the old .32 scorpion machine pistols
-
This oughta be good....maybe not for the wallet :o
-
Agree on mag release, handguard and grip. Meh on the rest for me.
-
I'll be curious to hear if there are any internal changes. Otherwise, pretty much a cosmetic revamp.
-
Any reasons someone knows why they wont make a .45 variant?

Not a common Euro caliber?

Hmmmm, maybe?

Looks like they revamped the BHO lever as well.
It's down there at the front of the trigger guard where the old mag release was.
I can't say that I'm a fan of that at all. Would give you one busy trigger finger to have to re-learn a new manual of arms.
Yeah, that would drive me nuts.
-
I like the new mag release/bolt release positions; matches another gun I have. Not a fan of the new design for the iron sights — lacks elegance!
-
What’s the point?

Nah....not for me. But innovation and advances in the gun world are always great, even if it doesnt suit everyone.

I'm glad that I have the old original version.

I like the looks and the grip angle of the new version better than the original. Hope the safety doesn’t dig into my knuckle when firing, like the original does. Hopefully the new version is as reliable and accurate as the original.

Now we know what the child of the Scorpion and the BREN 2 looks like, the pistol grip and mag well say that. :)
Is it brace adaptable, or SBR capable? It is certainly interesting, and I can see a select fire version becoming popular with various agencies. Looks like fun.

and for those who ordered one guess what, it take's new style magazine, and looks like cz doesnt have them in stock yet, and those of us with magpul mags they wont fit!!

Well, that would be stupid if the existing mags aren’t compatible with the new gun, since the current mags are almost universally compatible across many manufacturers and weapons platforms and they work well.
A lot of times these days, ya gotta wonder, WTF is CZ thinking.

check out some of the youtube videos on the new version and you will see about the new lower and new mags

The ad states that it is backwards compatible with the older mags.

I believe it says the mags are backwards compatible.
-
WTF does “backwards compatible” mean?
Do you stick it in the magwell backwards? If the old mags are compatible with the new Scorpion, why not just say “they are compatible”?
WTF, CZ???
-
Innovation and advances are great but it detracts from it when companies drop support for the previous models. Not saying CZ did that here but several other companies have. Guess they gotta make money somehow.
-
Because the old mags DON'T work in the new gun.
The new gun uses an AR15'ish magazine catch and doesn't have a slot in them.
Therefore, all existing scorpion mags won't work in the new gun. At least not unless you have a mill and are able to mag the mag catch slot in the mag body.
Said the new mags work in the old guns too, but the old mags won't work in the new.
Well that’s fricking stupid. Nobody who’s invested in the previous model Scorpion (or other compatible PCCs) and a pile of mags is going to want the new 3+ and have to invest in yet another pile of incompatible mags.
CZ seems to be working hard to find innovative new ways to gouge their customers.
-
I wont be in for one at this point. If I run into some throw away money, maybe, but unlikely.
-
Not sure what the mag 'back compatible' means exactly; my reading was that the mags would work. Time will tell.
Can't say I'm unhappy with the current gen, and there's a tax stamp for mine; lotta trouble changing it.

Looks like they kept that knuckle bruising safety lever. That’s unfortunate, but good for the aftermarket manufactures I guess.

That's the inexcusable facepalm, as far as I'm concerned. That safety lever has been universally panned by just about everyone that has ever shot an Evo, and they finally get around to redesigning the gun, and they keep that the same?!
-
It is obvious the old magazines won't work in this version due to the mag catch. Not a very smart move CZ!
-
One of the YouTube reviewers who had a sample to review said that the placement of the safety is different so that it doesn’t interfere any more.

Ok, that's good to hear.

So best I can tell:
1. Improved the safety / no more bruising
2. Made the handguard plastic / making it lighter
3. Made the grip better
4. AR-style mag releases / making the old mags incompatible
5. Sights redesigned for better cowitness
As a guy with two old scorpions and a bunch of old scorpion mags... literally the only thing here valuable to me is the better pistol grip. Which is fine but nothing terribly different than the yetiwurks I chose for my two older models. So yeah, definitely not interesting at all, especially at this price point of 1.3k. Just think of it this way... if you buy the older scorpion at 800 and then put in 500 into after market upgrades? It is WAY better what you end up with getting this thing for 1.3k.
1.3k into an S1 and you have good safeties, better trigger (CZC level even), good grips, better charging handle, good mag release, etc etc. Only if you care about AR-centric mag releases (and really, how many prioritize that?!?) or if you REALLY want to minimize weight is this something worth pursuing. Which I'm guessing CZ will find out is quite the minority.

I work at a gun store and we are a heavy CZ dealer. A couple things to consider:
CZ has begun using a Minimum Advertised Pricing model, known as MAP. That means that online retailers cannot advertise a CZ product for less than MAP, dictated by CZ. Dealers who abuse MAP can lose their accounts with CZ. Obviously there is no way to police in-store pricing and, depending on the policy, there are ways to work around MAP (free goodies, pricing in cart, etc).
That said, Black EVO S1s MAP price is $1085 and colored versions are $1179.
Also, we have it on good authority that the S1 will be phased out in 2023.
-
The Scorpion was a lot easier to justify when the price was around $750-$850, when basically it was half the price of a Sig MPX. Now that it is north of $1k MSRP, I just don't think it makes that much sense anymore. Spend a few hundred more and get the MPX and you are getting a much better, more refined, PDW.

I prefer the original mag release. The new grip looks nicer.
