Title: CZ Prices Going Up?
Post by: thedude on February 17, 2025, 10:59:57 AM
Just looking around the interweb today and seeing the prices of CZ pistols, did things go up recently or did this happen a while ago and I am late to the party?  I see a lot of the classic models on the CZ USA web site are shown twice and $150 more in MSRP.   ???

They need to pay for all the R&D for all the new technologies and products they’re coming out with… ;D

So I wasn't imagining it, that's a pretty good jump too.  More push to buy polymer pistols I guess, I still prefer the 75 metal frame models.   8)

CZ tried raising prices like this a few years back and had to reduce them again after some stout push back from dealers. I know of 2 who told the reps they simply would stop putting CZ's on the shelf at those prices. I love My CZ's but there's no way I'd pay $799 for one.

It seems like most metal guns are going up.  The original Sig P365 sold for $600 in 2018.  The latest AMX is $1199 although it has some supposed improvements.

I did for a CZ 97b.  It was $850 and tax.  I'm glad I did.  They quit making them and price one now.  I just bought a CZ p-10 C for under $400.00 OTD.

Yeah, this sounds like typical stellar Colt Management business “strategery”: so we’re heading into a Trump Slump for gun sales as the atf and the dems are getting collectively slapped down repeatedly by all 3 branches of government. So what does Colt Management do? They RAISE the MSRP on CZ firearms across the board by a couple hundred bucks per model…BRILLIANT!!! Yeah, that’ll really boost sales during a slump in the market!!

Here’s another example: they’ve raised the MSRP on the P-01 with two 15 round mags to $800, while the P-01 with two 10-round mags remains at @ $650 — basically they’re charging an extra $75 for each 15-rd mag. Then consider that you can get MecGar 15 to 17-rd mags for @ $25 each, well, duh, you buy the 10-rd P-01 and spend the extra $150 on 6 MecGar 15 to 17 round mags and keep the two OEM 10-rd mags for range work…BRILLIANT, Colt Management!!!

I guess Colt Management thinks their CZ customers are as stupid — I mean BRILLIANT — as they are, themselves…2+2=5, etc.

The fact is MSRP has increased on metal framed guns across the board. Beretta and Sig are up as well.

Well, I got one a month ago from them at $604, and three days ago, they showed in stock at $604, out of stock today though. Maybe the next batch will be more expensive

The Bren 2 and Scorpion 3+ with plastic lowers and reveivers have also gone way up.

I don’t care for plastic handguns. They don’t do anything better than an alloy frame pistol, they’re just cheap. No doubt the plastics are much more profitable to manufacture than alloy frame pistols.

The only good thing about plastique guns is that dogs love ‘em!

So honestly what has your opinion of plastic guns got to do with anything here? Reality is prices on EVERYTHING are up and have been going up and will continue to go up. I'm old enough to remeber .30 cent a gallon gasoline and new cars that cost less than the sales tax on a vehicle today.

Because he has to find a way to make this a colt problem and to make it more dramatic he then added the "plastic guns" comment.

And you are right that it's not just CZ that has went up in price. It's in plain view for all to see the price increases across the board in not only guns but everything. So idk if he is just dead set on complaining or trolling.

From a business standpoint, cheapo, plastic, striker-fired self defense pistols are a lot more profitable than finely crafted alloy frame DA / SA pistols. But they’re garbage, obviously. For some reason CZ is pushing the plastique guns, by making them optics ready, but not the alloy DA / SA pistols that CZ (along with Sig and Beretta) established their names with. That’s stupid of CZ in particular, because there are no OR options for alloy pistols.

Even with the P-07 / P-09, it’s nice that they have DA / SA triggers, but they don’t do anything as well or better than the CZ75s, except that you have to go through the trouble and cost of getting your CZ75 machined for optics yourself, and handgun optics are THE big leap forward in pistol technology. At least Sig and Beretta give their customers the option of getting OR P220s and 92s. It costs money, but it’s worth it.

If Colt-cz was smart, coming into the industry-wide Trump Slump, they’d keep their base model CZ75s at their previous MSRP, but also offer them with an OR option for a couple hundred bucks. They’d sell a ton of them. And they can continue to sell the cheap plastique to those that want them.

once again your opinion has nothing to do with the fact that prices are increasing. Now it's OR guns. There's just no point in arguing with you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yS7WQM7G-lk

Call CZ-COLT and tell them what you think.

Yep, the anti-Colt rants had became quite old back say a dozen threads (or more) ago.   The Colt complaining/trolling/whatever has become very tiresome.

Reality is prices on EVERYTHING are up and have been going up and will continue to go up.
Yep, folks need to purchase the firearm(s) they can afford now so they can look back at the good old days------ and smile knowing how nice you had it, like I do.

CDS or Colt Derangement Syndrome is a real thing.

My favorite malt liquor, Colt45, went up in price. Should I blame Colt, or Dylan’s Mul-veiny?

When I got into guns 30+ years ago, you could literally buy a new CZ-75B for half of what a new Beretta 92FS cost.  Beretta refused to offer a model with a frame mounted safety.  This is the primary reason CZ was able to gain a foothold in the market.  Now, they both sell for right at the same price.  Interestingly, Beretta has finally seen the light and is offering a version with a frame mounted safety, though it does cost more than the slide mounted safety version for some reason.

I am generally put off by being restricted to buying a pistol with no more than a 10-round magazine capacity, but it just dawned on me: Any compact, metal-framed variant of the CZ 75 I might buy, while under the tyranny of WA's unlawful 2nd Amendment infringement, can be carried, without objection from the state, with any of the 14-, 15-, or 16-round, pre-ban mags I have for my 75 Compact. This opens up possibilities.

Yes they are polymer, but they are still CZ's.  I have all metal CZ's, quite a few. My EDC is still a P-01 and 97b. However I just cannot find fault with the P-09, P-09C Nocturne, P-10C, and the P-10F .45. Just good reliable guns at somewhat lower prices.  Remember the Glock's were going to wear out quickly, but some originals are STILL shooting.  You may not like polymer guns but they aren't going anywhere.

Companies (all of them) make production/marketing/product development decisions all the time.

Some guess right, some guess wrong.

The last two CZs I've bought (couple of years ago now) were discontinued models/calibers.

I watched a video the other day of a sort of well known internet/training guy giving his opinion of the ideal carry/fighting CZ pistol.  He'd taken a P01 Omega and a CZ75 Omega and swapped frames/slides.  He had the CZ75 Omega slide/barrel (milled for an dot optic) and put it on the P01 Omega frame (using the decockers instead of the safeties).  He said it was pretty easy to make 100 yd. headshots with it and the DA/SA pull was just amazing after having it worked over.  He also mentioned it had back up sights from CZ Custom and I wonder if they also did the action tuning on it for him.

He even said it was better than the Glocks he used to push.

I don't know if he's aware CZ no longer makes the Omega P01 and CZ75 anymore.

I hope CZ is "big enough" to absorb the bad decisions they make and someday get back to making the pistols many of us liked to buy/carry/shoot.   Yeah, I know, they still make the decocker pistols but I'm a safety fan and the Omegas fit me.
