Title: Witness large frame grips
Post by: Doomer on December 05, 2015, 04:17:48 PM
Are there grips for the large frame Witness pistols?  I just got some VZ CZ-75 grips, and they are not wide enough (front to back) to cover the holes in the pistol grip, and even if they did they still leave quite a bit of the frame exposed.  I'd like grips wide enough to cover what the stock grips do.  What are my options?

I'v tried the Hogue wrap around grips on this pistol, and I have the issue where they make the mag too lose to fall free, so as much as I LOVE that grip I doubt it will be an option.  Though I could modify the one I already have if that is possible.  Thanks for your help!

My older .45 Witness sports Italian Walnut grips bought from EAA back in 1992, but I doubt they are still available. You may wish to check on that.
Copper Gun Grips sells grips for the Large Frame Witness, made to order.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/EAA-Witness-Grips-Lava-Rock-Texture-Choose-your-color-/281254616939?hash=item417c14df6b:g:GrQAAMXQUpZRXmBs

Henning and Eric Grauffel sell grips as well. Pricey though.

Has anyone ever used lava rock grips?

I had to modify these because of the magwell but otherwise fit was fine.

They are really thin, I assumed they were a bit bulkier.  How aggressive is the texture?  Is the grip tape analogy on the web page accurate?

They feel great. As if wrapped in grip tape.

Had a set on my T-120 for a while. They felt pretty good but the texture was such that they got dirty all the time. Can't just blow the specks off. You have to take them off and rinse them. They also had quite a bit off flex and always felt a little loose. They might be less flexible on the Witness but I don't know. Got some nice wood grips off of Ebay and I'm a lot happier with those.
