Title: Mec-gar +2 extension for P - 07
Post by: DOC 1500 on November 11, 2016, 06:51:16 PM
Has anyone put the Mec-gar  + 2 extension for P07 on their Factory mags and how do they work for you.

If those are the ones that came with my P-07 and they do look like it, they work great.

I don't think they come with a gun unless you bought it used and somebody else did it

Can you fit 16 or 17 rounds comfortably in that Mag with the extension

They did come with new P-07's in the last year. They work fine. I've used them on my P-07 Duty and P-09. They add 2 rnds capacity as claimed. The match the 07 frame perfectly, 09 frame is slightly thicker front to rear, just enough to be noticeable. CZUSA had them on sale for $4.99 per pack of two (IIRC).

The P-07 in .40S&W I recently put on lay-away at Fin Feather & Fur did not have the extensions. Brand new - watched them break the seal on the case so the paperwork could be done for the lay-away. Oh well - if I can't get the job done with the two mags of 12 rounds of .40 I really shouldn't be there . . .

Wanted the extension for my pinky finger not extra rounds

I put them on all my P07 (.40 S&W) magazines.  They "work" great.  However, I don't like the way they carry.  That extra added little bit of length digs at my under arm in the AM3 holster.  I don't notice it in the IWB holster but I'm not really trying to conceal (yet) in that one.  It's just used for carry around the yard/garage with a t-shirt sometimes covering the grip.

They fit the CZ 75 magazines, too.  But, you can't use a 16 round magazine in a full sized gun as the plastic lip on the base is a little too thick to allow the magazine to lock in.  The do, however, work in a compact sized pistol (gives you 18 rounds) if you don't mind the little gap between the base and the bottom of the grip.

I like them for the extra grip length, w/o them my pinky hangs off. For iwb carry, I don't notice them at all. In fact, they conceal better than the oem mag bases on my P-06. I tried the P-07 extensions on a 75 mag and they were too wide to grab the lip on the bottom of the mag.Not sure why it didn't work for me , it's been a while since I tried them and I like the rubber p-01 bases on my 75 mags anyway.

I run them on my P07s and P09s.  I like having 17+1 rounds of .40 on the nightstand at night.  They've functioned flawlessly for me and a 21+1 round P09 is fun to shoot.  You just don't ever seem to run out of ammo, but it does tend to shorten range trips when you burn through a box of 9mm in just over two reloads.  For my P07s, they fit perfectly and only add a bit of length to the frame.  14+1 rounds of .40 in a semi-compact pistol is a very nice winter carry gun.

I have these on my P-07. I accidentally dropped a fully loaded mag(carpeted floor) a few days ago. All but two rounds came out. At first I thought the base came off, but it didn't. The follower stayed at the bottom of the mag and allowed it to unload. When I picked it up, I whacked it on my hand and it dislodged. I guess maybe I need to buy stronger mag springs. They've always fed fine so I figured they were good as is. Maybe it was just a fluke, not sure.

I personally prefer the CZ +2 base pads... they are what came stock on my UG P-07s and I liked them so well that I ordered them for all of my mags. They are cheaper than the Mec-gars and they feel absolutely seamless with the grip - so much so that I have been unable to date to talk myself into buying a P-09!

Has anyone found anyplace that sells the standard base pads for the P07 ? My Urban Grey came with +2's on both mags , for concealed carry I would like to find one basepad that is standard.

Has anyone tried the extensions from Greg Cote? They're supposed to be CZ factory +2 but description says they are plastic so a lot less money than I've seen at CZ shop which are aluminum.  I think the ones that I got with my UG P-07 are aluminum ... just curious how the plastic ones would work.

Thanks

CZ makes both plastic and aluminum... and unless something was off, the ones you got with your P-07 are the plastic ones. They are really great- an improvement IMO over the old SP-01 ones.

Life pretty much sucks now that they're giving away the extensions with the new guns. Wonder if they would exchange standard for extended?

The plastic ones are $4.99 a pair on the CZ USA website. About the cheapest thing on the site aside from a decal...

I checked the CZ-USA website they only have the aluminum ones and they're $37 I believe. Anybody have a link to the plastic ones I couldn't find them.

s0nspark-I have both the standard P-07 and P-07 UG.  I'm not sure but the +2 on the UG sure feels like metal.

DOC-From what I'm seeing, only the suppressor ready have the +2 mags.

Earl-After seeing your post, I went looking on the site and, somehow, stumbled on the Plastic ones but they were $9.99. Even so, I should have ordered them because now, as CZ is "improving" their navigation, I can only find the Aluminum ones for $37.

I found the link in my history.  No easy way to navigate to it any other way.  The link is https://shop.cz-usa.com/ProductDetail/545900000078_Plastic-Magazine-2-Base-Pad  (https://shop.cz-usa.com/ProductDetail/545900000078_Plastic-Magazine-2-Base-Pad) I haven't tried to place an order yet but the link works ... for now.

Those were "on sale" all of last year it seemed. I guess they got their inventory back to a comfortable level. I ordered two to try out with some other parts and was surprised when they showed up in pairs. $9.99 for a pair still isn't bad.

Well, I was able to place an order for the extensions, plus a couple spare parts, so we'll see how long it takes them to ship them.  Thanks again for the tip, Earl

The magical search phrase seems to be "+2 base pad" ... I had the same trouble finding them when I went back to order ;-)

As for what came on your UG P-07... here is a pic of mine with the plastic +2:

and here is the aluminum one:

Note that on the plastic one on my P-07 there is a "groove" along the side that says "PLUS 2" on one side, whereas the aluminum one is smooth and is more angled at the back. The plastic one also has texturing on the front side similar to the front strap on the P-07. Hopefully that will help you determine what you have. Yours may very well be aluminum ... stranger things have happened! ... but all of the UG pistols I've come in contact with had the plastic ones. FWIW I absolutely prefer the plastic ones to the aluminum... from my experience, they are able to take more abuse without showing it and are much cheaper to replace once they do ;-)

The plastic base pads were on sale a while ago for $4.99 and I bought mine at that price not knowing they were a pack of two. Even at $9.99 they are a good deal unless that is all you are ordering, in which case shipping will tip the scales.

Just got a chance to check mine and they say PLUS 2 as well so I guess they're plastic. Thanks for clearing that up.  When I was tapping them, I must have been hearing the follower rattle so I thought they were metal.

The latest P-07 mags have thicker springs in them. They work fine with the +2's, At least for me. I was unable to get 15 rounds into the standard mag with the uplula. After 14, I had to muscle the last one in. With the +2's I can load 17 with the Uplula without any drama. As others have mentioned, they look great on the 07, and mine has a lanyard loop to help take up some space behind them. The all black gun looks like the +2's are part of the grip design, I like it.
