Title: Truglo tfx
Post by: Usmo on December 27, 2016, 06:41:17 PM
I missed a big fat snake here in cajun country today with my P01with spo1 meprolights. Does anyone have truglo tfx on a p01?  Does it shoot where you aim?

I had some on a P01 that I sold and they shot low for me.

I have the same problem.  For targets at 7 yards, I have to use the top level of the rear sight to split the front sight in half.

I have the CZ Custom short tac rear sight with a green FO sight on the front of my PCR and I find it hits poa very nicely with that set up. I'm not sure missing a snake is an absolute reason to ditch your sights though.

I guess it may be dependent on the gun, maybe more on a shaky snake shooter?
but my Mepro lites work just fine on my P-01.
course if surprised by a snake who knows?
My POA = POI didn't change a bit  by changing the sites as they were  the same size (height) when installed as the factory set.

You guys may be right. Big unanticipated snakes make shaky hands.  I have had my eyes on the Truglo sights for a while and I just don't like the Mepros.

I have truglo tfx sights on my kahr mk9 and really like them. For that particular gun they did not change the point of aim. I doubt they will change the point of aim and point of impact for your CZ. I am thinking about buying some for my sp-01 compact soon because I like them so much. I really only use Mepros and Truglo sights btw.

Yep, fixin to buy some TFX Pro sights for my P-01. As soon as I can make myself let go of the money. They're pretty pricy.

hi USMO, and guy's,

I hope joe chimes in here or maybe David S, as well,   anyways,  after reading your posts.. it seems some  information is missing.. namely.. what yardage was snake?   what kind of pattern/accuracy do you have w/ your gun on paper at same range?  and probably, even most importantly.. REMEMBER.. not all ammo shoots to POA!,,,  you need real practice w/ one or two proven brands.. that shoot to POA at anywhere b/t 3-9yds..   lighter/heavier bullets WILL MAKE a DRAMATIC POA, POI changes even at those short ranges.   Thus,  I would never changes sights based on a 'miss',   PLUS the ADRENALINE factor...  very tough to 'blame' sights here based on this information.

submitted respectfully,   Joe/David/ others?  please chime in and help us all.. from those of you who shoot WAY more than the rest of us earthly commoners..

I've got them on a glock and they've always shot great. As far as poa to poi, you will obviously choose the ones for your model to be sure they are correct. In any case, they're almost as bright as my mepro night sights in the dark, and during the day they're totally awesome even in with the sun in your face.

Turns out I was mistaken.  My Dad's Great Dane found my snake later that day with a hole right where I shot. Gonna have to keep the Meprolights on the P-01.  The Truglos will look great on my Tristar T-100. Pics when I get home.

When in doubt empty the magazine.

I have had the truglo TFO's on about 5 different guns and absolutly loved them. I mean I bought the bleep things 5 times. My latest 1911 came with all black iron sights and i went to buy the TFO"s again and got caught up in the hype I read and the term pro and reached a little deeper and bought the TFX.

Hated them! I guess it depends on what your priority is. The aperture that lets light into the fiber optic is much smaller on the tfx so in mid light ... The light I have most trouble with ..the light generally at indoor ranges, the front sight glows far less than most quality straight fiber optic sights. My Hi Viz and my TFO'S jumped off the gun. Big bright glowing dot compared to the tfx.

My hi viz and other fiber optic only though are no good in dark. The tfx with the tritium are awesome in the dark but so were the TFO. Unfortunately they dont make the Tfo for the cz. The tfx boasts extra protection and chemical resistance but if you arent crawling through mud it doesnt matter. None of the guns I had outfitted with tfo were ever damaged. I was really disapointed with the tfx and took them off my 1911 and put the plain sights back on.

If you will be shooting mostly day through dusk ... I would stick with a good plain fiber optic that allows for lots of light to the tube. My hi viz has been amazing.

I wholeheartedly agree. I love my CGW fiber optic sights with the the black out back sight on my Sp-01. They are useless at night, but far and away my favorite sights. That being said, the TFX pros are a distant second... really distant. But they do what they are supposed to do. I have Mepros on My Tristar T-120 and My P-01. Got Trijicons on my P-07. I like the TFX pros the best for night sights. Personal preference. The TFX pros have tritium. They aren't my leisurely shooting sights.  They are my sights for the last resort. I don't ever want to be in the position to depend on these sights. But I am confident in them if the situation arrives.

What a shame to read these comments. I probably had high expectations for the TFX. I have several TFOs and love them. As mentioned above, they are great day & night, so I followed the pattern as my P-01 is scheduled to replace my EDC.

Is there that much of a gap in terms of light between the TFOs and TFX?
