Here are some final photos , not perfect but I am pleased none the less .
Slow rust blue , loaded with CGW parts : fire control , new bushing , new barrel , Armory Craft curved trigger, reworked trigger guard and beaver tail . Shoots very well.

Beautiful work!

Nice work on the trigger guard. I'm doing the same to my transitional. About half way there, but other projects keep interrupting.
-
Nicely done!

Thanks Gentlemen .
I slap on some Lok thins and my Vortex venom and have a ball shooting this one .

Very nice.

Ya that thing looks so good

Really nice, something to be proud of for sure. What did you use for your rust solution? About to start one and if it turns out half as nice as yours I will be happy.

I've worked on guns a lot in my life, as I tell people that start out on a project for the first time.....PERFECT never really happens, especially the first several times and even after that truth be told....close to perfect is possible, what matters most is that you took on a challenge and saw it through. I used to look at imperfections, meaning not exactly what I thought it would turn out to be, as a failure of sorts.....then there are those instances where the "mistakes" turned out to be "pure genius" on my part ;D ......this project happens to be pretty UNIQUE.....I'd take that over perfect any day!!!

John, that sir is a truly beautiful pistol.
-
You achieved that "WOW" factor.
-
Thank you Gentlemen for all the kind words .
I too have been working on guns to some extent most all of my adult life (what ever and when ever that started ) , and nothing is static , one is always learning , the key is to apply the learned lessons and remember how to deal with situations that come up .
Rust bluing is new to me , but I'm learning .

Rust bluing looks awesome! I imagine the prep before bluing was hard work to achieve such a nice overall finish. Job well done sir.

That looks terrific. Great work!!!

....... What did you use for your rust solution? ........
I'm not responding for the OP but this is what I've used for all my rust-bluing projects in the past.....you can get a fairly wide variety of final finishes depending on the process (number of coats, if you boil the parts, ect....) you choose. Its really kind of fun......but a lot of work ???

yep thats the stuff , I also used brownells own formula , but liked the Pilkingtons better.
I was thinking about getting the stuff to vapor rust like the instructions with Pilkingtons but Nitric acid is hard to find and expensive to ship.

Thanks for posting the solution, starting a 95 transitional this weekend and this thread is pushing me toward rust bluing.
