Paint sprayers - well, they look a little bit like a gun...

While I appreciate the replies, no one has actually answered my question. I didn't ask 'should I rent or buy', I asked: 'recommend me a paint sprayer'.

I have plenty of time and the house is single storey. I do not envisage doing the job in an afternoon, but maybe three or four days, once prepped, and giving it two coats overall.

You actually did get recommendations from people that have experience in this field -rent a proper piece of equipment appropriate for the job. Your specified budget doesn't allow for purchasing what is needed. This isn't equipment/tool snobbery, it's good honest advice.
